Fantastic stay in a clean & well-equipped apartment very close to the centre of Kirkby Stephen

A clean & well-equipped apartment, on a quiet road very close to the centre of Kirkby Stephen. The owners provided good upfront info, were flexible and provided some complimentary goodies for our arrival. :-) KS has an abundance of eating & drinking options including some very nice pubs, and is a good location for those who enjoy walking in the countryside - it is on the coast-to-coast walk route, and is surrounded by a multitude of hills. There is also a vintage railway just outside of the centre, another of my passions although we didn't get to visit it on this occasion ... maybe next time though!

Hidden gem

Lovely place everything you need in one place. Gillan and steve where astounding hosts completely understandable and accommodating. You are right on top of everything but you only hear the animals.

Brilliant holiday

The barn was home from home...very clean and everything there for you..it was right on the doorstep of the town amazing place... everyone was so friendly lovely walks to go on and the pubs especially the taggy man did great food.would definitely go back.kirby Stephen is full of charm and quaint buildings Also being able to park outside property was a bonus or round the back. Gillian the host kept us informed of everything and always replied to any messages

Stayed here for 3 days as part of Coast to Coast walk. Ideally placed in centre of Kirkby-Stephen, in quiet road away from main high street. Very comfortable and relaxing with everything we needed. Helpful and attentive hosts who live close by. Would definitely stay again.

Access to beautiful Yorkshire Dales and Lakes District is great !

Kirkby Stephen is quite a nice village with great access to the Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes District. Lovely Yorkshire villages to visit close by. Good places to eat and the surrounding area is extremely picturesque.

Very noisy street with traffic noise. Noisy boiler in kitchen. Bed too small for us and unfortunately we had to alternate sleeping in lounge room. Photos on site gave impression of larger property.

Cosy home away from home

Black Bull Barn was a "home away from home". It was cosy and comfortable, exactly what we needed for a long weekend away. The goodies which we were left was a lovely touch, there were even treats for the dog. The place was so clean, tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was also amazing. The place is literally around the corner from town and has everything you need. We had a few drinks at the Black Bull pub and Fish and Chips from the Archway Fish and Chip Shop. It is so conveniently placed for some lovely walks in the area. Having a parking space was also a bonus! I would highly recommend staying here.

I cannot think of anything I didn't like, apart from the sofa being a little uncomfortable, but to me that is petty. As if you are there for the walks like we were, you will barely sit on it. And the hair dryer wasn't very powerful, but again petty as you can bring your own.

Fantastic location, spotlessly clean and a few goodies left for us on our arrival which was really appreciated. Clear instructions from the owner prior to arrival and recommendations of where to eat. Could park right outside or in the designated parking spot at the back of the property. Lovely walks on the doorstep, especially the viaduct walk. Perfect base to visit places in the Eden Valley and beyond.

Being really picky, the quilt could have been bigger, just about went over the edge of the bed.

Cold outside but warm within

Breakfast was great - we were self catering! The key was in a locked box and our host gave accurate details to open. It was simple to use. The property is really nice and well located for the town centre. Lots of things in easy reach

The rooms were cold on entry. It took a while to warm through but we were able to manage, bearing in mind this was the coldest week of the year so far. There was lots of amenities which we didn't use but would be well appreciated by others.
