Comfortable pleasant stay

Comfortable place to stay for a night or two. Located 20 minutes walk from the city centre, not the nicest area but I didn’t feel unsafe at all as a lone female. Good value for money. The bedroom & bathrooms were clean & well equipped. Messages from the host were informative & friendly. I’d stay there again. Feel like the negative reviews are from people expecting the Hilton for £30-40 a night.

The kitchen was grubby. The walls are quite thin so you can hear people talking in the common areas. Could do with a few air fresheners dotted around.

Value for money but lacking in details

Easy to get to from the centre by foot (30mins) and by car (10mins). Room was basic and bathroom was clean.

Room didn't have a mirror or anywhere to hang clothes/coat. Walls are paper thin and I could hear the people next to me. Window didn't close fully and there was always a draught. Carpet is old and stained.

Location was ok

Very dusty and dirty. Dirty doors, dirty fridge door. Very noisy, from outside until 1200 after that people came in making more noise. Very lumpy bed. The property smells very strong of curry, I could smell it in bed as well.

The Dbl bed was very small. I booked a superior room. It was tiny. Living room area was shared ( not how it usually is for apartments ) we accept that there was a shared kitchen. I also didn’t know that it was shared bathrooms. But that was ok. As there was plenty of them. They do need mould and mildew remover and lots of bleach being used in them. ( I own my own cleaning business and tryouts need to scrub the edges well. )

Extremely Disappointing – Serious Security Issues & No Accountability

We understand this was a budget option, but there are certain basic standards every accommodation must meet—this one failed in a critical way. We were given a room without a functioning door lock. When we contacted the host through Booking.com, we were told the cleaner had taken the keys and that new keys would be provided soon. It took over 3 hours before we finally received working keys, during which time we were literally stuck inside with unlocked doors, completely unable to leave due to serious health and safety concerns. We had planned to meet friends in town, but had to cancel as we couldn’t leave the room unsecured. We reached out to both Booking.com and the property (Bethel) for compensation or even a sincere apology—neither cared. No responsibility taken. On top of that, the hotel is very old, poorly maintained, and feels generally unsafe. Strongly recommend staying elsewhere, even if you're on a tight budget. Security and basic respect for guests shouldn't be optional.

The house seemed to be well equipped, but we did not have time to use the kitchen. Plenty of bathrooms.

I BOOKED A ROOM AND MOVED IN. AFTER I CAME FROM THE FESTIVAL THE HOTEL MANAGER WAS WAITING FOR ME TO TELL ME THAT THERE WAS SOME KIND OF “ISSUE” IN THE SYSTEM AND THEY MOVED SOMEBODY ELSE TO MY ROOM. NOW IM SLEEPING IN THE STORAGE ROOM CAUSE I HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO SLEEP AND ITS 2AM AT NIGHT!

Basic but clean and felt safe. Good cooking facilities and free tea and coffee. Close to a bus route into the city in a quiet area.

I couldn’t lock my bedroom door from the inside. The heating was on and I couldn’t turn the radiator off.

Grime everywhere, dirty bed, more like a homeless shelter

There was a guy working there who was really friendly and helpful.

The whole place was filthy and I don’t mean dust I mean grime. My bed had at least 10 long black hairs in it and my sheet looked like it had been on and used for weeks. The kitchen was disgusting, nothing had been cleaned for a long long time. I couldn’t believe places like this existed on booking.com

The room was clean.

This is not apartments, its rooms with common areas. From the moment I pulled up I was aware that this was not a great area to stay in; within 30 seconds of parking outside what looked like a derelict building, but turned out to be the 'apartments' a lady of dubious character knocked on my vehicle window and asked me if I wanted business! Great Start. From a Health & Safety/Fire Safety point its atrocious. There was a single fire extinguisher at the entrance, this was out of date, had no pin in and had either lost pressure or been discharged, i could see no smoke detectors and no other fire safety appliances throughout the building. There was a kitchen, but no cups, plates or cutlery. This is at best a contractors stopover, but even then I would not be happy with leaving my vehicle on the roadside in that area.

The sheets were clean and the kitchen area and bathrooms were okay.

Some of the people who live there have jobs involving banging of bed frames. Others looked like they had just stepped off a boat and landed in this country.

Basic facilities and room, we do not feel this is a safe place to stay, especially for female and solo travellers

For the price, the room and facilities were okay. The room is basic and simply fitted. The kitchen looked okay but we did not make use of it. There were shared washrooms that were clean, one did not have a working light however.

Our issues with the property have to do with other guests and our safety at the location. We should have read the reviews better, it is a place that people go to engage in drug use. During our stay, there were loud partiers in the room beside us all night with constant drug use (there are very thin walls) that made for a very uncomfortable sleep. The next night, a woman began screaming and we felt very concerned for her and our safety. We reached out to the contact number and a staff member came to check on their room and eventually kick them out. It was a harrowing experience, we do NOT recommend this place for solo or female travellers and would not consider staying here again. We felt quite unsafe even as a couple.

Great if you like prostitutes

Not much, it looked clean, comfortable and spacious enough but I left as soon as I got in the place. It didn't feel safe at all and I didn't realise there would be so many rooms sharing limited bathrooms and toilets. Felt more a half way house than somewhere I'd like to stay

First impressions, there were prostitutes touting their business and junkie needles/ garbage on the street right outside the apartment main door. It's more of an industrial street than residential.. I didn't want to leave my car there.The door wasn't particularly secure to the building either I went up to see my room and the communal kitchen had dirty dishes and there was one shower room for what seemed like a lot of individual rooms. I left 20 seconds later and booked a proper hotel that felt safe.

Staff ignored messages sent via booking.com. False advertising of tvs in every room- there isnt !! Couldn’t get into room when got there, NO key in lock even though i had told them my arrival times. Very basic. Area is rough

Location close to city centre and great for travelling to temple newsam for festivals. Rooms could do with a paint but overall comfy, clean and great value for money

Small struggle communicating with host regarding early check in which resulted in us being stuck outside for 40min in an area that is pretty rough and intimidating due to people with mental health issues and prostitutes, overall people were nice!

I love the neighbour/staff helpfully and kindly interact with you. Room was clean before we came in abd well ventilated. Easy access into building and takeaway and grocery shops are nearby which is very good

I didn't like the chrck in times the rooms be cleaned already but manager says chrco in 3pm? Rooms been cleaned and is free/vacant. I also didn't like the kitchen dishes etc were dirty and bit kept well
