Pham's House - Homestay & Cafe

I ended up staying twice with Pham’s family during my trip in Sapa. It’s great value for money, you are just outside of Sapa and have a beautiful view over the valley. It’s a great starting point for treks around the area to visit different villages. Pham & her family are also very warm & welcoming.

Although the rooms are great per se- simple and beautiful, high ceilings, good bed, etc. you can hear everything from the other rooms. So if you snore or suffer from light sleep, consider this.

I loved my five-night stay at Pham's house; The view of the Sapa Valley, the rice terraces, the mountains, and the river was unbeatable. I highly recommend Pham's house if you're looking to stay away from town and wake up every day surrounded by nature, with a spectacular view, the sounds of roosters and birds in the morning, and cicadas at night. For me, that makes the whole experience because I love nature and appreciate quiet and peaceful spaces. The place is exactly as it appears in the photos. For the price, it's extremely good. Although the bathrooms are shared and on the first floor, next to the kitchen, I must say that I always found them clean, with good water pressure and very hot water, not only in the shower but also in the sink, which is much appreciated in the middle of these mountains and with this climate. There are always slippers (which I highly value), for rooms and bathrooms. As the house is made of wood -- for my that's part of it's beauty and magic, you can hear footsteps and the voices of other guests. My room was more than perfect for me, as a solo female traveler. Spacious enough for my yoga practice, with access to the balcony and a view of the valley, just like in the photos. It had a desk and chair, two nightstands on either side of the bed, and hooks for hanging clothes. Pham is such a happy and kind young lady; she was also always available on the chat and answered fast my messages. She has a beautiful little daughter named Sapa, who is truly adorable, as well as a dog and a cat, and they all made my stay very cheerful and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Pham and highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again if I'm looking for peace and quiet surrounded by nature. Just a few meters away, a short walk up the road, is the Cloud Boat restaurant. Pham recommended it, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Considering the high value for price and even though this were not at all problem for me, you should have in mind: The bathrooms are shared and on the first floor, next to the kitchen, so from the rooms you need to come down just a few steps and very few stairs. The house is made of wood --although for me that's definitely part of it's beauty and magic), so you can feel movement and hear the footsteps and the voices of other guests, as the rooms are on the second floor, like in a wooden platform. However, none of this was a problem for me. As I said, it was well worth the price.
