Loved the ranch and the people in this area were so friendly and went out of their way to help us

I liked that we were able to rent the entire apartment. It was very clean. It was cute that the host left candies in a dish on the table. It had some silverware, napkins, a pot, some cleaning supplies and some mugs for tea/coffee. It had some dish soap and sponge. It had a set of twin bunk beds with a queen or king sized bed, where the beds were nicely made. I liked that it had a set of 4 body, face and hand towels each. It had a strong, sturdy door that had 4 locks.

The host required for 25 euros for taxes/VAT, which she had her employee ask for when my boyfriend and I met them at the rental. At the time, we didn't have 25 euros in cash. We only had USD since we weren't expecting to pay anything with cash. Fortunately, the host/employee was accommodating and said that we could pay for it the next day. The next day, the host asked when she could come by, but we weren't home until late. I updated her when we were home and stayed for about 15 minutes and checked her business a few houses down the road to see if we could drop it off. We left to eat since we didn't hear anything. When we were out, we got a response, and I let her know that she could drop by and get the money inside the house since we'd be a while. It sounded like she was going to pick it up, but when we came back, the money was still there. I didn't receive any messages indicating when she'd drop by. I didn't see the messages until she arrived at about 9:55 pm, but around 9:50 pm, she messaged me to say that she was stopping by. Since we're American, don't speak Italian and it didn't seem like the safest neighborhood, we were really concerned about opening the door. The host asked my opinion of the rental that same night when I was updating her on when we were planning to leave the next day, and I gave my honest opinion. The host seemed to disagree and had a retort. Prior to arriving at the rental, the host messaged me saying that the property was in a safe, quiet neighborhood. However, about an hour after arriving, we heard the police on a speaker looking for someone or someone to get out of their house. There was no graffiti in the neighborhood, but we were weary of how safe it was since people were out on sitting in their mopeds drinking and smoking. It just didn't feel welcoming/safe.
