Stylish Retreat Inside City Walls

Was very homely and close to the city centre maybe 10 min walk. Was a quiet area so was nice to have some quiet but bustle of the city nearby. The house was cozy and nicely decorated and we all enjoyed. The host was friendly and accommodating and left chocolate and prosecco as a welcome gift which was nice. They also allowed us to store luggage after checkout which was also kind. Their replies were great. We enjoyed staying there and would recommend.

Personal preference but a fitted sheet is better than a flat sheet as the bed sheet kept coming untucked.

We loved the property, location and the presentation of the property.

The presentation, Prosecco on arrival, all the bedrooms and living areas were presented beautifully. However, we were held up on the Saturday, before going out into York, waiting to be let into one of the bedrooms which had slammed shut with the through wind and had locked from the inside. Luckily, we were helped by a gentleman who was willing to climb in through the front window upstairs window to unlock it. The back door had also a faulty lock and on the Sunday, after locking up on the Sat night, also wouldn’t open 😔 There was lots of confusion on the Saturday about releasing the access code to get in, leading to uncertainty during travel time. Thankfully, we were eventually told the emergency code. Apparently booking.com’s comms weren’t operational that day. Quite disappointing.

The location was very nice and welcoming with the chocolates and sparkling wine.

Had trouble with the TVs and a dryer was listed but it was a line dry and drying rack. We had planned on doing laundry at the location, but finding this might be a discrepancy between UK vs US language. Might help other Americans if that was made clear.
