All in all a charming place to stay but rather pricey if you aren't able to avail of an offer.

The staff are excellent - very mannerly, friendly and professional. 10/10 to all the staff especially the head waiter who went out of his way to make amends for a poor steak. He deserves a bonus! Rooms were warm and the bed very comfortable. The pool, although being used for lessons, still had room for guests and it was still possible to swim lengths without interruptions. We stayed here before during the Christmas period and the decorations are superb at that time of year - very festive and elegantly cheery. I was glad to see that evening food is no longer served in the drawing room as this is the only place for a quiet drink in the evening - a lovely spot to relax before and after dinner.

Disappointed in the food. My daughter recommended the tasting menu which was one of the reasons we chose this venue but it was not possible for one person to have it without the other which was very disappointing. Perhaps the forte leans towards gourmet cooking as neither of the "regular" evening meals (steak and chicken) nor the breakfast fry were up to the standard we expected of the establishment.

Wonderful Stay

Our stay was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Our king room was perfect. We had robes & slippers, tea & instant coffee with a kettle, as well as mini fridge. We dined in the casual bar area both nights and the food was outstanding! Breakfast was included in our booking and was a combination of self serve cold items and a nice menu of freshly cooked traditional breakfasts. Our second morning, we accidentally slept in and the staff was so kind to call us to make sure we didn’t miss breakfast. It really impressed us! Unfortunately, we never ended up using the spa facilities this time, but plan on returning.

The ONLY thing we found to be a negative was the inability to use the streaming option on the tv.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were really lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely breakfast.

We were very disappointed with the food in the Palm Court restaurant. The showers in the leisure centre could do with an upgrade.

A truly unforgettable life experience

Absolutely wonderful; a dream come true from the moment you first see it from the car. The staff were incredibly friendly and made you feel like a movie star. I wanted to keep it a secret, but I couldn't help but tell many of my friends how fantastic my stay was, and several of them have already considered staying there. For me, it was a unique experience that I hope to repeat in the near future if possible. Thank you all so much, and Merry Christmas!

An Enchanting Castle

From the moment we arrived at Kilronan Castle, we were completely enchanted. The setting is breathtaking — a beautifully restored castle surrounded by tranquil woodland and overlooking Lough Meelagh. It genuinely feels like stepping into a fairytale. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive throughout our stay, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our room was spacious, comfortable and full of character, with lovely touches that made the experience feel truly special. We enjoyed dinner in the Restaurant and it was beautifully presented with wonderful flavours and impeccable service. Breakfast the next morning was equally impressive, with plenty of choice and fresh ingredients. The spa was another highlight. The pool and relaxation areas were spotless, and the treatments left my partner feeling completely refreshed. It’s the perfect place to unwind.

The castle is absolutely stunning. On a lake and the views are amazing. Our room was on the 4th floor and it was huge. The bed was so comfortable, I didn’t want to get out of it.

Our room was cold when we arrived but the manager brought us up a portable heater and it was lovely and toasty then.

A real Irish castle with excellent value for money

The castle is beautifully refurbished and rooms are very comfortable. Value is excellent (oddly no twin rooms were available on their website at time of booking so we booked them via Booking.com instead)

1. The Drawing Room bar was not open to residents before or after dinner on a Sunday night. 2 . The 10 course tasting menu was terrific value and the €50 wine pairing even more so but I rated only 3 of the 10 courses as outstanding (all were at least good). 3. The swimming pool needs more lights = too dark

Kilronan castle i think is my favorite castle, was my 6th time there and it never disappoints.

My 6th time at kilronan the breakfast was excellent as always, and the decor in the castle is stunning. Beds comfy , I always look forward returning to Kilronan.

The casual dining menu choices are not as good as it used to be, the pork belly i thought was lacking in flavour and way over priced. However the ploughmans plater and seafood chowder were excellent.

This might have been a "me issue" but it seemed like to get to the Spa we had to walk through the casual dining with people having their dinner. We mistakenly dressed in robes and flip flops with the expectation of being able to make this journey more secretively!

The style and interior of the castle such as the library and tea room were cozy and quiet. The pool and spa area are very well appreciated.

The bathroom was a little dirty one of the tools of toilet paper had a bad stain on the side like water damage and was still left on the hanger. Just some dirt behind behind toilet seat on wall and just some general grime in the bathroom

Disappointed as not as good as previous stays and visits

The property and location are stunning and this is our 4th visit to the castle.

Staff not as willing to listen or help as on previous visit, our room was unbelievably noisy with a noise that kept us awake and staff who took no notice when it was reported. Our room 202 was also looking a bit dated with wallpaper coming off of walls, stains on carpets and lots of information in the room missing-the communication was also very poor.

Beautiful exterior, disappointing stay

The exterior of the castle, the grand entry and the main floor are stunning. Breakfast was amazing - the pancakes were perfect.

Bedrooms and bathrooms need updating. Beds could definitely use an upgrade in the linens and comforters. Of all the castles I had booked, I looked forward to this one the most - the outside appearance and grounds drew me in. Sadly, of all the places I stayed during my 2 week adventure, this one disappointed me the most. Definitely confirm the condition/type of room you book, and do not arrive too late - this may impact the type of room you get.
