Central location, exceptional property host

Check-in wasn’t good as no one met me even though I’d been told earlier in the day that someone would meet me. I found out later that the property Host had a day off and the messages that get sent through on this platform are automatic. So when the staff have a day off, this could be an issue. There were also numerous cleanliness issues. I spoke to Tracy the property host about all of my concerns and she was exceptional in helping these to get resolved. I would like to really thank her for going above and beyond to solve these issues for me

I stayed in this apartment for a couple of nights. Communication from customer service was excellent and very responsive. Unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of the stay. The main issue was cleanliness. The apartment clearly had not been cleaned properly for a long period of time. There was dust everywhere, and the furniture, appliances, and cutlery were all very dirty. The mattress was worn out, and the bathroom was in poor condition. A vacuum cleaner was left in the corridor, which gave the impression that guests were expected to clean the apartment themselves. I arrived late, and instead of resting, I had to spend my first morning cleaning the apartment. It did look much better when I left, but it still requires a significant amount of care and maintenance before it should be rented out again. I travel frequently for work and have stayed in many shortterm rentals over the years, this was definitely one of the worst I have experienced. Check in was also unusual. Normally, short term rentals provide a key in a lockbox with a code. In this case, I was met in person, which turned out to be another drawback. Two men met me, one outside the building and another in the corridor holding what appeared to be a can of lager. This was highly unprofessional and inappropriate. I appreciate that the apartment is fairly priced for Retford, and I’m surprised that the reviews are generally positive. I would not recommend this apartment to families or to anyone expecting a reasonable level of cleanliness. If you are a lone traveler, desperate for accommodation, and unable to find anything else, you might consider it. It is warm and probably better than staying on the street, but do not expect much more.
