Hotels 24-7 - The Old Victoria Hotel

Tiny bedroom. Bed stuffed into an alcove with no space at the sides. Torn wall paper, scuffed paintwork plaster off wall in bathroom, no bathroom mirror, no heating in bathroom no toiletries except small hand soap. No teaspoon for drinks. Cigarette burns on window frames. Light switch for bathroom on wrong side of door frame so had to open the door wide hence disturbing my husband in the night. We were Sent a text message to tell us about the auto checkout at 01.04 which woke us both up. The mini marked was a shelf with extortionate priced crisps & chocolate. No parking anywhere around adjacent streets.no lift and our room was 3 flights up-no mention of this on info. When we arrived we’re told NO ID NO ROOM also a £50 deposit charged, both of these were mentioned in the small print (which we missed as we have never been asked for these before when booking with booking.com) and was only by luck my husband had his driving license with him otherwise a very long wasted journey.

Unfortunately no breakfast or hot meals, tea coffee or sugar provided, my pre prepared meals were put in the micro wave by staff, central heating was not working due to work in progress being undertaken, however portable heater was provided, though not as good as radiator

Location

Wasn’t clean and could do with refurbishing. Also when mentioning the hotel to separate people I was told the same thing “that’s where escorts go” also the shared bathroom and expectations of cleaning it yourself.

Good location in the middle of town with everything you need not far away, very nice staff and spacious room with big beds and good size tv.

Room was not fully clean behind furniture very dusty with just a small plug in electric heater and was in need of a re-decoration bad but the hallways landing and stairs were in the process of being decorated so perhaps the room i stayed in has been done by now.

Very bad, details below.

There was no heating in the room. Roomheater was not working at all. A couple of times, I called the reception and was finally given a small portable radiator. The whole night I was shivering in the room. Very bad service, never go again. There were hairs on the Bedsheet. The toilet flush was not working The water tap of hot water was completely loose and difficult to open/close. There was no breakfast offered for me. Overall, a very bad experience and I never preferred to go again.

We loved the aesthetic, the staff were fantastic and we’d happily stay again.

Location is good and value for money

The room next door were very noisy, music playing until 4am, we could her everything. Fighting and arguing. Reported to reception at around 4am and a staff member came and asked for the music to be put off. The noise still continued until around 5.30. On our way out , a female staff member was on the second clots and we again relayed the issues, she told us she would report to manager, i did ask could we see the manager but we were informed he was unavailable, every other time we have stayed, we have had no issues at all.
