About this apartment rental
The "Verbena" apartment is located on the first hill above Stresa (about 250 m) and has panoramic views over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding countryside and mountains. It is surrounded by a large, fenced garden and is only 1 km (5 minutes in the car, less than 10 minutes on foot, via a private footpath) from the bustling town centre of Stresa. The location is very peaceful and quiet.
Stresa is 42 km (less than an hour) from Milan-Malpensa airport. From the end of March to the end of September there is a bus service called "Alibus" which takes you directly from Malpensa airport to Stresa. Alternatively, a taxi can be arranged for you (120 Euros single).
Its railway station connects you easily with Milan (45 mins fast train), where you can shop, sightsee, or simply sip a coffee and watch the world go by in the majestic Piazza del Duomo.
Stresa is the most popular tourist destination on Lake Maggiore and it's not hard to see why. With its beautiful lakeside promenade dotted with grand Belle Époque hotels and villas, its sunny beach and outdoor swimming pool (Lido Carciano), its delicious restaurants and little shops, many selling local products, its mountain walks and lake sports, there is something for everyone.
The town faces the famous Borromeo Islands of Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori so just hop on any ferry to discover the enchanting beauty of Lake Maggiore, its fascinating villas along the shore, the Piedmont towns of Arona and Intra and the picturesque town of Laveno nestled on the other side of the lake in Lombardy. You can even take a full-day boat tour all the way up the lake to Switzerland (Ascona and Locarno).
Less than an hour's drive away are the ski slopes and nature trails of the Mottarone mountain.
The Verbena apartment has free Wi-Fi/Internet. Air-conditioning and heating are also included in the price. Garage and parking at the property (+ EV-charging point). On the balcony, you also have a power point to charge electric bikes. The apartment is wheelchair-accessible.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is a lift.
The bright, spacious living room has been stylishly furnished and has a comfortable double sofa bed, satellite television and fully-equipped open-plan kitchen (dishwasher, microwave oven/ mini oven, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, electric coffee-machine) and dining table and chairs. It opens out onto a large terrace (30m2) with table and chairs, sofa and 2 sunloungers where you can eat outside and enjoy the panoramic views over Lake Maggiore. There is a second covered terrace (portico) with table and chairs overlooking the garden at the front.
The 2 double bedrooms (the beds can be made up as singles, if preferred) are of a good size and one opens out onto the terrace and has a lake view. The other has a view over the garden.
2 spacious bathrooms with large shower and bidet (one bathroom is specially designed for disabled use).
There is a separate utility room with washing machines, dryer and iron + ironing board on the ground floor of the residence for the guests to use.
The listed price is for 4 people; for each additional person it is 25 Euros per day, plus VRBO commission.
The apartment can sleep up to 6 people.
Please note there is the Holiday Tax (Tassa di Soggiorno) of 1 Euro per person per day, children under 6 excluded, to pay on arrival (in cash).

This lovely apartment is in a very nice and modernized building. The panoramic view of Stresa and Lago Maggiore is breathtaking, and it was more beautiful that I expected from the photos. The walk to town is about 15 mins., you just need to be prepared for some uphill and a few sets of stairs, very common in Italy, especially around the Lakes. The parking is easy on the property. Giuliano, our host, was very friendly and exceptionally accommodating. Genuine Italian hospitality….We would happily stay here again.

We stayed at this property for 5 nights, and had a wonderful time. The place is very clean, in a great location, very comfortable, and the location cannot be beat. We appreciated having the washers and dryer at the property.

Our recent stay here for 4 nights in Stresa was a great match for us.
Highlights include:
- Super easy check in (property manager was waiting for us at the property upon arrival)
- Easy parking (even with a larger vehicle and with the location on a steep hill)
- The unit itself was fantastic; The patio was comfortable with amazing views; beds were comfortable; Kitchen was well-equipped; Bathrooms were spacious
- We used the laundry facilities which worked perfectly (including supplies).
- Overall the unit matched the listing - and we really were happy with it.
The only things we found a little off included:
- Great WiFi - but the TV didn't offer an ability to utilize any streaming services. There were many German language Live TV channels - but very few in English. If staying here and you like to watch TV at times - you may want to bring a streaming stick (Roku, Fire etc) or use Laptop/Tablet.
- The interior design was super simple - but lacked any sort of coffee tables / end tables etc. The simple design makes it feel quite spacious - but it would be nice to have a place to set a cup of coffee in the morning. The bathrooms similarly were quite simple - lacked convenience of any hooks, counter space for toiletries, etc.
- These just made it a little less comfortable - but we still had an absolutely amazing time and would stay here again. Overall it was a great experience.

The easy, friendly check-in with Giuliano, the spotlessly clean apartment, the sweeping views of Lago Maggiore, the relative ease of walking into town and the yummy restaurants there: it all added up to a phenomenal stay in Stresa. We would definitely recommend staying here!
