Real Okubo Apartment Hotel

I liked the quiet area and easy walk to Shinjuku and train station was close by. It was very clean and I liked having a fridge, washing machine, drying heater and close to shops and restaurants.

Preferred the restaurants in next suburbs but easy to get to by train.

We stayed three weeks at Real Okubo and ended up becoming regulars without planning it. The location is strategic in a rare way: Shin-Okubo and Okubo stations are within walking distance, so access to the city is instant, yet the building feels removed from the chaos. There's a genuine difference between being close and being trapped. What surprised me was the sense of security. Yes, we experienced earthquakes during our stay (welcome to Tokyo), and being in a solid, well-built apartment completely changed how we experienced them. Inside you feel protected; outside you'd have been in a panic on the street. The staff knew our needs almost before we expressed them. That sustained attention over weeks is not standard. The apartment itself is excellent. However, we're on the first floor close to a restaurant across the street. If you're someone who likes opening windows to avoid constant air conditioning — as we wanted to do after three weeks — the food aromas are quite strong and persistent. This isn't a property issue; it's a neighborhood characteristic. Higher floors or rooms facing the back courtyard would likely solve this entirely. For those prioritizing fresh air circulation or sensitive to food smells, requesting an upper-floor room during booking would be wise.
