La'gent Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho

We're a family of four with 2 teenagers who spent a night at this beautiful clean hotel in central Shinjuku. It's closed to local eateries and the train station. It had all the necessarily facilities with friendly staff. The room was a tight squeeze for accommodating 4 but it was fine considering we only spent 1 night. We were given a welcome drink each which was a nice touch for cooling down after travelling around in high humidity.

few steps to godzilla n in heart of entertaiment nightlife area.

I never wrote a review before leaving the hotel, but here you are: (1) hotel lobby is tiny feels like 700 square feet, with a so-called breakfast place which is the bar area, with tiny portion and 10-15 "quota" per time slot, never seen before. I would rather you say no breakfast provided. (2) room is dusty on that wooden fence as decoration in the room, on the bed side lamps, on some surface that you are not expected to touch I guess. (3) the bathroom smells shitty which is really really bad for a Japanese standard. The color is total dark color from floor to ceiling, you have a bath with TV screen in front, you have black thin cushion at the head rest and on a sitting bench, and a tall mirror, all within the bathing area. it feels like a love hotel setting which is horrifying for family guests. The water is weak, and you can do a standard 40 degree or cold water, nothing in between. (4) the toilet area, there are 2 basins of the size of a large bowl on a bench, so when you try to wash your face, the bench is all wet, each with a water tap and the water is weak like 2 straws max. (5) The air-con is also the shitty-est I've ever encountered, with mechanical noice 24/7 unless you turn it off. And the air-con setting is blowing to your head direction when you sleep, which is ridiculous. (6) the "1" star I offered here, is because I have to give at least 1 star, and also appreciate the room-cleaning staffs who are very polite and try their best to offer a cleaned room every other day. (7) the hotel is next to red light district, when I am walking with my child in the early afternoon on wards, we do not feel good or very safe. there are sex workers going to work, off from work, or working on the street around this area, it is excellent location for people who aim for this or like this, but definitely NOT family with young children. (8) I stayed in La'gent before, we liked it so we booked La'gent again in this area, but I made a huge mistake, and I picked the higher room rate room which is the room you saw on the hotel page with 2 floor beds and Japanese picture of sea wave on the wall. it costs 300 USD per night for a week in August 2026 so I regret my choice, very much.
