Shanghai Bund Shamei Building Treasure Hotel

The Z hotel is in an excellent location, right next to the Bund. It is in an old, rather charming fully renovated building. The first impression upon arrival is great since this feels like a rather trendy spot.

Enough has been written about this by other travellers, but the rooms are rather small is you are two adults travelling with two 20 kg bags. There is not enough room to store your belongings. We stayed for five days, and after a while it was too cramped. It’s more suited for a weekend with little luggage. They wrap towels in plastic which is wasteful and totally unnecessary. Breakfast is not great. You get a set plate of English style breakfast and it’s very difficult to explain to staff e.g. that you want a vegetarian option.
