Finest Retreats - Salvay

Excellent location for 3 nights exploring the delights of Porth Leven. Lots of good food outlets to choose from ranging from pasty shops and fish & chip shops to high end restaurants & bistros, plus 2 good pubs. Furnishing are basic, but all you need, and nice to have a small private outside courtyard. Recommend the 5 mile walk from Porth Leven to Helston via Loe-Bar and the Penrose Estate with car or bus back. Our dog loved it.

The digi-box check-in & check-out worked well but the agent's automated emails seem rather anonymous and unfriendly. Parking near by was very limited and a complete lottery. We struck lucky, but it could have been a nightmare in high season. It was very crowded during the 2026 summer heatwave. Stairs were rather steep and no upstairs bathroom was an inconvenience at night. (There is room to fit an ensuite in the bedroom).

The property was in a great location, it was clean and well presented.

I was not impressed with "Finest Retreats" passive aggressive communications. They insisted that they wanted all the contact details of everyone staying there (including mobile No's, email and home addresses) otherwise access to the property would not be allowed. I can only assume this is for marketing purposes, (I refused to do this, as I had paid up front and it was an unnecessary intrusion). Also insisting that I "check in" beforehand? (I was not going to an airport) Minor niggles - The TV had no terrestrial signal and there could have been a tea towel to dry washing up. Not a big issue as we were out most of the time.
