The Old Stores, Luxury beach side selfcatered holiday cottage above the beach

Perfect location and felt like a home away from home. Wonderful welcome pack and owner was very easy to communicate with.

the decor was spot-on (I recognised a few pieces from home!), beautifully crafted/put together, good quality stylish furniture with a cohesive colour paletter & scheme, plus a delightful smattering of interesting touches. The windows up in the living space were superb, open up fully for a lovely vista over the beach & harbour, allowing the soothing sounds of the sea to suffuse the space. Comfy beds, and well stocked kitchen utensils for proper self-catering (we rustled up delicious salads and healthy breakfasts and tasty snacks with ease: which we could take down to the beach as/when we fancied).

the only downside was not knowing about the hot water tank: ie. when it refills and how much water it likely contains. We decided to run a soothing bath after a day at the beach but we ran out of hot water (having firstly rinsed our feet of sand and done some washing up!) -bit of a shame... A simple notice explaining how the hot water tank/boiler arrangements worked would have helped us use the water more efficiently/effectively (we are a used to a combi-boiler at home -instant hot water all the time).

The upstairs lounge is very nice with a side view of the beach. Provision of wine and basics was thoughtful.

It wasn’t luxurious. We felt quirky would be a better description. The front door was very off putting and felt like the wrong property! It would have been very squashed for 2 couples as the beds were in limited space. It was expensive.
