Old Stones Cottage

Right in the centre of Ambleside Spacious enough Two bathrooms Very well equipped kitchen (easy to use everything) Comfy beds Extra touches were appreciated( lights on stairs, gorgeous roll top bath, hot showers, good heating) Extras provided ; toilet roll, kitchen roll, aluminium foil, washing up liquid, kitchen pack which contained dish washing tablets, bin bags and sponge for dishes, loads of towels) Lovely and quiet. Felt very secure.

Parking….first come first serve. Couldn’t get a parking space the whole time we were there (4nights), it was frustrating but we were given passes to park in local car parks. They are also busy and you’ll be lucky to get a space. Front and back could do with a tidy, quite neglected. Don’t love the leather sofas, bit tired and could do with replacing. Stairs a bit steep to loft bedroom, would be a problem with people who have mobility issues.

Excellent accomodation right in the centre of Ambleside.

Instructions were emailed for Key collection at an office on the road into ambleside. We were not in a car, so this meant walking with our rucksacks etc in the opposite direction to the cottage, as we arrived a couple of hours before key collection time. The main problem was that the email said collect from the office from 4pm to 5.30pm or after that in a safe located in an outhouse opposite the office. The office was shut, as it was sunday, this wasn't mentioned in the email. I rang the helpdesk number and a gentleman advised me to look in the safe. The keys were not there. He organised a member of the maintenance team to come and get the key out the office for me, he had to come from another property to help. So it was a stressful start to our holiday.

Location, rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and lounge.

Back garden neglected and unusable. Eg weeds and garden furniture. Also, would be good to have 6 chairs for dining table. We made do with little side tables in lounge

Good location

When arrived house was freezing and took several calls to get heating switched on. Difficult to get keys from office, couldn’t park outside the property and car park was a 10 minutes walk away.
