We loved the peaceful location, full kitchen, all the decor was lovely and the place was extremely clean. When we were arrived we discovered some damage to the exterior areas due to a recent storm - a cleaning crew arrived within 30 minutes to clean up so that our dogs could use the garden safely. They were really friendly and helpful too!

We did find the mattresses to be too firm but i understand that this is preference. It would have been lovely to have a proper coffee machine but we made do by going to a cafe in buxton for our caffeine fix!

Kitchen stools were loose so we tightened them up with the Allen key's Would probably benefit from having the TV mounted on the wall in living room so can see from all angles

Downstairs & upstairs toilets for accessibility. Spacious. Quick response to some issues with property whilst there.

Cleanliness - dirty towel in one wardrobe; empty wine bottle in another wardrobe; dirty utensils, crockery & pans which needed cleaning before use; overflowing bin outside on arrival; mould in ensuite which couldn't be sorted until winter; soiled duvet & pillow on removing covers when leaving. Lack of tea towels and towels. Never have anyone I know stayed at a property that only provides one towel for children but two for adults because children expected to stayed in bunk beds & twin room. Our booking was only for adults. No extra towels provided. Games on kitchen floor blocking exit likely a fire exit & a hindrance to those in our party with mobility issues. These were moved outside at our request. Games piled up on windowsills in dining room. Gardener turned up unannounced to cut grass whilst two of our party were sitting out in the garden. Lack of hand wash and cleaning items. One hand wash bottle had barely anything in it & others the bare minimum for four areas. One provided on request. One dishwasher tablet. Felt very minimalistic rather than considerate & welcoming. Two broken drawers in the freezer. One was replaced but could only use two thirds of freezer for week Shelves from fridge in a cupboard instead of fridge. Fridge door needed attention as handle loose. Stuff in kitchen cupboards was disorganised. Cushions for outdoors in four cupboards. Lids of saucepans not with pans. Chipped crockery, knife with tip broken off. Stools in kitchen not sturdy. Being told that the issue was previous customers who didn't look after the place rather than taking responsibility. We accepted this at the time but on reflection that's no excuse for not providing the standard we expected for a 9.5 house. We were told the host would be spoken to, monetary compensation was mentioned but we have heard nothing from the host since, not even an apology.
