Comfortable enough, bathroom & kitchen lovely but wouldn't stay again due to ancient musty mattresse

The location was excellent, very convenient. The house was a comfortable size for a weekend stay, with good sized rooms. Kitchen was lovely with all utensils and crockery we needed. Bathroom newly renovated it seemed and spotlessly clean with plenty of towels and shampoos etc provided.

The beds! They were pretty dire and I can see why we were told we didn't need to strip the beds on departure.. The twin divans were tatty with the fabric hanging off the bases, although these had mattress toppers on them. The small single bed built into the nook was the worst, I had to take the bedding and mattress protector off to fit an inflatable bumper undernearh for my little one, I haven't seen a mattress patterned like that since I was a kid in the 80s!! And it smelt very musty. It gave the ick so I moved my daughter to one of the other beds. The pillows also felt heavy and old or lumpy so I went and bought new ones in Sainsburys. My mum thought the double was comfortable enough so I didn't tell her to check the mattress! Also the telly was freeview only with no great options on channels.

Perfect for visiting Oxford

Excellent communication from Barry, the most attentive host, answers any messages, etc, with speed & efficiently. Easy check-in/out Tea, coffee; sugar, toiletries supplied The bus stop is literally a 2 minute walk away, approximately 45 minutes into Oxford for £3 p/p Perfect location for walking along the canal path & close by to the town. Thank you for a lovely weekend

Convenient and practical house stay, easily reachable by bus from Oxford center.

Barry, the host, is lovely. He came to meet us at the door. Wifi works very well. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom is a nice size. There is one bedroom with a small double bed, and another bedroom with 3 single beds. Providing the towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner was a nice touch. The house is of good size with a big size backyard too, so we could seat outside too. The beds were comfortable and the neighbourhood quiet so we really slept well. The Oxford canal is 2 minutes walk away so we were able to take a nice walk along the canal. The house is a good place to stay if you intend to drive and discover Cotswolds or looking for an affordable alternative to stay to visit Oxford. There is a bus stop 3 minutes walk from the house and it takes you to Oxford center in approx 40mn, so this was convenient! The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you can think of. Barry provided us coffee and tea. Price is very good too and matches what we experienced.

Kidlington is not a pretty place, and has actually nothing to offer. It is very suburbean and probably people live here and commute to Oxford for work. We couldn't find any pub that served food after 8pm - some indicated on Google were closed, looking for a chef or kitchen closed during the week. Ended up hvaing to get food in the supermarket after having tried 4 places and driving around. No real shopping or anything to do around there. One night we tried to go the the pub ,The Bell, that Barry recommended. It was a Chinese Food night and had a 90mn wait as it is probably one of the only one serving food. Looked nice though. We ended up walking along the canal for 40mn and eat at the Jolly Boat (or something like that) - food was great there. With regard to the house, it is convenient and practical but decoration is minimal. Many things are wobbly (we picked up a side table and the leg fell off), the screw on the wall fell off and we ended up repairing it ( lucky one of us always carries tools and even screws). There is a smal dining table in the kitchen but too many chairs. The table outside and the benches are damaged and broken. So it feels the bare minimum is put in - not a home away from home though. But the price is very reasonable.

The property did exceeded our expectations and the location was really quiet as well so definitely good for families and the canal walks 🚶 every morning was amazing. We definitely will be back 💯..cheers 🥂.

The location was ideal for my personal needs and Barry was an exceptional host.

No breakfast as this is a self-catering facility. The property is well suited to my purposes as it is close to my daughter's house and opposite a bus stop. The host, Barry, was very responsive and fixed any problems the same day. The property was clean and serviced regularly.

The property has an enclosed garden that could be improved with suitable furniture and pot plants to provide an ideal place for sitting out or entertaining in the long warm summer evenings.

This property was very clean and well fitted out. Very flexible accommodation as there was a sofa bed, a triple room and a double. We would definitely stay there again.

Disappointed

The communication with the owner was excellent. The location is quiet and convenient. Thank you for the teas and coffee. The washing machine has a drying feature, which was nice.

All the bed mattresses need to be replaced, especially the full-size beds. The springs were worn out, and we felt like lying on top of the uneven wires. We ended up sleeping on the floor because the carpet was better than the bed. We couldn't rest. The thermostat didn't work. The house was too humid, and the bed covers felt wet, so a dehumidifier would really help. We are a family of four. Only three super-small rolls of toilet paper were provided, and the toilet paper ran out on the first day. When we asked if we could find supplies, the owner advised us to drive to the grocery store and purchase them ourselves.

Perfect Stay!

The host is absolutely amazing! His communication before, during, and after was on point. He picked us up at the train station (wow), took us to the home, and made sure we had everything we needed! It was easy to get around by bus/train. Stores all around. Loved the cute little town of Kidlington!

Great location - near to services but very quiet. We have an electric car and discovered that there were chargers in the town centre car park - 15 min walk. The owner was very helpful.

Barry was incredibly responsive and immediately helped with any queries I had. It was good value for money and was exactly as advertised. I would recommend this accommodation. It was also very quiet and we were all able to sleep well.

It would be good to have a lock on the bathroom door and a freezer.

Actually stayed in a different property of same host, so the location comments apply to "Two-bedroom flat, Flat 2" I think. Was visiting family, and it was very close to them. But also very central, with café, restaurant, food shopping all within a few minutes' walk. Second time in one of Barry's properties and was thrilled when I realized this was his, as he is really a lovely host, going out of his way to accommodate our schedule re keys. Chatty without being imposing, with suggestions for eating out, for example.

The only thing is there was just one dishwasher tablet and three for the clothes washer. Would make more sense the other way around. Not a big deal, to be sure.
