We were in apartment 2B on the second floor (European second, North American third if the ground floor is counted). The building has a cute enclosed courtyard into which the entrance doors of all units open. The salon (living room) was quite spacious and bright when the internal shutters on the windows were open. The apartment is spread over two floors: salon, kitchen, bedroom and one bathroom on the first floor and the master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the second. The location is very good, close to the centre of La Latina, the trendy artsy/hippie/student area of Madrid, within a reasonable walking distance of the historic centre of the city. The area is very lively, full of people at night, and always felt perfectly safe. For those traveling by car: Free street parking in the area is non-existent, and parking garages charge obscene fees. The most economical parking option in the vicinity of the apartment is VOT Promoparc located within a 5-minute walk. However, a spot MUST BE RESERVED AT LEAST A DAY BEFORE to get the discounted rate of EUR 15 a day instead of the regular EUR 34. To make a reservation go to the VOT website (Google it) and find the Promoparc location.

The cleaning crew had done a poor job cleaning the place before our arrival, there were hairs on the bathroom floor and clumps of dust, food crumbs and other debris on the carpet in the salon. I wrote to the hosts about it and they were very apologetic and offered to send the cleaners again, which we declined because we didn't want strangers entering the apartment in our absence. Another minor annoyance was the persistent smell of sewage in the downstairs bathroom which got worse at certain times of the day. Because of that we ended up leaving the bathroom fan running at all times. The problem may have been caused by the old plumbing in the entire building as we often smelled sewage in the courtyard and in the building's lobby.

Good location it was also quiet, beds were comfy. Welcome pack with coffee and other bits. Use of a lift.

The apartment needs a good thorough clean. The wardrobe in the lower bedroom was also a cleaning cupboard and smelt damp so I didn't hang my clothes in it.

Ruim appartement met 2 slaapkamers en 2 badkamers. Goede locatie.
