The Boathouse at Oakhurst Olives

The location is perfect for unwinding, the dam is beautiful and the mountains made it all feel like we were far from home. We enjoy braaiing so the big fireplace was a feature we used quite a bit. The jacuzzi is electric, not the old-fashioned wood fired one's so anytime day or night, we just needed to take the cover off.. and boom! All your troubles become bubbles. The jacuzzi is positioned above the dam which for sunsets is magical. The owner, Blair was very pleasant and helpful answering any questions I had prior to our arrival. The farm Manager, Dewald was fantastic and was available if we needed anything. Communication was great. The extra touches such as the pool table, board games and old school dvd's was nice. We appreciated the earlier check-in and late check-out more than anything since this trip was to celebrate My lady's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. If you're wondering on whether or not to book this place, don't think - just do it. Thank me later.

We didn't like that we had to go home at the end of our stay haha, so we will be back soon. There is nothing we didn't like about this place.

Great location, plenty of activities to do. Great for peaceful birdwatching, horses grazing on the grass in the morning, complimentary delicious olive tasting, exploring the farm and hiking up the orchards to meet a troop of baboons. Kayaking on the dam. Great for nature lovers. In the evenings we also enjoyed braaing and playing pool.

Nothing really, Would have loved to fish (catch and release) and have two kayaks but not a deal breaker. Was truly a wonderful stay and would easily do it again, we love Tulbugh !

Jacuzzi was the whole time cold

Lovely setting and very cosy and private. Great for all seasons.

For the price I expected a bit more attention to detail: there were no firelighters or kindling and it would have been good to have a small bottle of olive oil or some port, rusks, salt and pepper or other little touches. The fresh flowers were lovely but as a host I know what guests expect at this level of accommodation.
