Very convenient for walk through park into Ambleside
4.0 / 10.0
Good location, quiet, nice plates and bowls.good carpets. There were good towel drying radiators in both bathrooms.Good dishwasher and washing machine with dryer. It had a good microwave.
Internet worked on 4 days during 11 day stay,on 2 days sporadic and on 5 days not at all.The hand scribbled passkey with random spaces needs to be replaced with a printed correct version. It mentions the heating comes on at very sparsely set times (1.5 hrs in morning,2 hrs in evenings ) It did not.Partly because timer may be set via nonfunctional internet. It mentions on a note in kitchen to press an „advance button“ on boiler. No such button is marked near the boiler. The mixer shower does not run well enough for a warm shower. If you have too little water flow it doesn’t trigger the boiler.if you use slightly more it is at best lukewarm. The electric shower in the other bathroom works, however the on/off button is loose and falls off.One of the bathroom sinks was blocked. There was some mouldy grouting. The oven did not work, because the time was not set prior our arrival. The instruction manual was well hidden in the bottom drawer in the kitchen under some other stuff .There were no big enough casserole dishes to prepare a roast. All the Teflon coated frying pans apart from one griddle pan had deep scratches. There was no folder with clear instructions about all appliances/heating system/rubbish and recycling.

The location was perfect, in very quiet part of Ambleside opposite Rothay Park, 12 minutes walk from the centre. Comfortable beds, plenty of facilities, very cosy and very warm. Keys in the key safe so straight in the property no messing around. Lots of hiking routes, plenty to see, plenty to eat, we really do love Ambleside 😊
This property comes highly recommended and we'll be booking again for later in the year, autumn time most likely...
The power shower didn't get hot and the pole detached from the wall in the electric shower! Reported this to Sykes who promptly sent an engineer to repair the electric shower pole, I presume parts were needed for the power shower as that remained cold (repair occurred whilst we were hiking) The sash windows are a battle to open and close when airing the property, bit of lubrication in the runners maybe?

Our stay at Millerbeck was one of the best stays we've had! Firstly the accommodation; beautiful apartment within an old and attractive house with its own parking and sweeping drive from the road. Facilities were perfect, cozy, warm, very quiet (apart from the occasional RAF jet fighter training over the Lake District, which we loved) and well equipped. After a day of climbing, walking and sight-seeing, coming "home" felt great. Bedrooms (two) were en-suite, and comfortable. Now let's mention location. Millerbeck is only a ten minute stroll to Ambleside town centre, via a charming lane, and park. You don't need to worry about traffic as the walk is virtually traffic free. Ambleside, of course, has its good share of restaurants, shops and facilities including a cinema and numerous good pubs. There are regular bus services to other lakes places like Windermere, Keswick, Bowness etc.
We would caution against walking home late at night because the route through the lane and park is not illuminated. There is no sense of insecurity in the area at all, but coming from a city environment (London) we preferred to err on the side of caution). On the one occasion when we were out after dark, we used a taxi to get home (about £7) which was worth the peace of mind (the pubs will have taxi cards and numbers if you're stuck).
Millerbeck is ideally placed for walks right from your doorstep. There's a charming walk to Rydal and Keswick, as well a challenging walk to Loughrigg Fell rewarded with fabulous views. For our other outings we drove, and like anywhere in the Lakes, driving comes with exceptional views wherever you're going.
We would highly recommend this property for your stay in the Lakes.
Couldn't find a cheese grater!

It was quiet, good location to everything
Didn’t like the fact that the cleaners turned up before the departure time . They were waiting outside with their car running waiting for us to get out . Left a sour tinge to the

Not much in the way of supplies eg dishwashing tablets etc

Very good location - in walking distance of the town but very close to lots of walks.
Electric hob on the cooker was rather slow. It would be nice if basics like salt and pepper had been provided.

Comfortable apartment. Comfy beds and good furnishings. Lovely views from all windows. Both bedrooms had ensuites, which was great, one of ensuites has a shower and a jacuzzi bath, other has a shower.
Very peaceful and quiet location. Nice big shared gardens.
About a 15 minute walk in to Ambleside itself, along lane and through park (very dark at night time, so take a torch)
Lots of walks around Ambleside too.
All in, we had a lovely 7 nights holiday.
Shared gardens need more outside tables and chairs. Clearer signage and possibly BBQ areas.
Information pack inside apartment could be better,
Clearer instructions for appliances too. Needs coat hanger in hallway too.

A perfect location for Ambleside and exploring the South Lakes. The house had everything we needed and felt very homely.
The welcome information seemed impersonal and disorganised, but that didn't ruin our stay at all.

We were self catering. Liked the quiet location
The directions were flawed. When we arrived on the road where the property was we were told to watch out for the Riverside Hotel. That Hotel no longer operates, and is evidently being renovated, we were told this after by local people, and there was no signage to go by. The result was we passed the property 3 times before finding it, and as it is set well back from the road it's entrance looks like a private dwelling. The sign near the gate was small, and easily missed.

Exceptionally quiet location.
Apartment in old house, but modernised/decorated to very high standards on two floors.
Although just outside Ambleside, is easily reached by public transport: train to Windermere then frequent bus to Ambleside, then 10-minute walk via park to property.
Kitchen has the latest top quality appliances and ample supply of crockery/utensils etc.
Occasional visit by small flock of Herdwick sheep and a male Roe deer.
Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Although the kitchen was a big positive, we are not so up to speed on the 'latest'! We decided spending the holiday reading instruction manuals was not a good use of time. We never worked out how the oven functioned and the microwave was cleverer than us, although one meal was heated OK. Didn't go near TV (but we never do on holiday)!
1000 departure time is marginally early.

We were met by a curious, friendly pair of sheep on our arrival in this idyllic setting and the following morning a young stag crossed our path when we headed into town. Wow! Only two minutes drive from the centre of Ambleside, yet felt remote and in the middle of the countryside. Peaceful, clean, comfortable with a fireside, power shower, tumble dryer and all mod cons.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Maybe could have done with a couple more dishwasher tablets but really can't fault our hosts at all.

Very close to ambleside, within walking distance of town and mountains, didn't use car all weekend, free spacious parking, very warm, well equipped, comfortable beds, clean facilities
Could have done with instructions on boiler and thermostat to turn heating down!
