Good, and comfortable, location in a beautiful town.

Our first time in Fougeres and we were sorry it was such a short stay, just a quick overnight stop. The accommodation was good - clean and comfortable. We did not have breakfast. The arrival arrangements worked fine but be sure to read every message you receive as the last I had looked at first sight like a duplication but, in fact, there was some additional, and necessary information tucked away in it.

No fault of the accommodation but parking was a bit of a challenge until, on the third trip around the block, a car pulled out of a parking spot just ahead of us.

Excellent, location, property and breakfast. If you go to Fougères - stay here!

Excellent location and we were able to park right outside the property. The owner made access very simple and gave good directions and instructions well before our stay. The building and rooms are wonderful, like stepping into history, we felt privileged to be staying there. Our room had incredible views over the castle and old town. The breakfast was superb, a lovely selection of homemade, hot and cold food at a shared table. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend!

Comfortable, clean, very central with lovely hostess.

Great view of the castle/chateau out of the bathroom window! 5-10 minute walk from the castle. Very nice "communal" breakfast prepared & served by the lovely owner/hostess, Lucille. A garage was offered for overnight storage of our bicycles which was very helpful.

It was a bit of trek up to the third floor with no lift - so best ask for a lower floor if you have mobility issues.

Magical stay in Fougères.

Warm welcome, amazing view of the château from my room, ample breakfast with many house-made and locally sourced options. I also opted for a foot massage in the unique spa facility, which revived my tired feet.

Everything was perfect and according to what one can expect from an old house. You feel welcomed and at ease. The bowl was great and so is breakfast. Can't get a better location and view over the castle is fantastic.

The most wonderful view on the castle, a wonderful old building which is yet comforting and engaging as both such old buildings and their users can be. Such wonderful personnel clearly inspired by the owner who is so warm and kind herself. Also such a nice breakfast in the old dining room.

If you can’t climb a few stairs and don’t appreciate the imperfections of an old building this is not for you.

This place right in the heart of Fougeres is an absolute gem. Oozes character to match the city, was quiet, comfortable are really beautiful. The owner too was extremely friendly and helpful (despite giving me the wrong code to get in!)

Absolutely everything! The room was full of charm with a breathtaking view, and you could feel the care in every little detail. Breakfast was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the hostess,Lucile, was incredibly warm, gracious, and attentive — she truly made me feel at home.

A dreamy house full of time and charm

A magical house and very loved. Full of time and charm and kind and colourful details, with views over the green hills and the castle. We could have stayed for a very long time... The breakfast was like a fairy grotto with piles of pancakes and home-made yoghurts and breads, honeys, jams... the list goes on. Generous owner and a very relaxing stay. Even the ghost in the radiator pipes was friendly and stopped rattling once we turned it on full power :) A short walk into town, in fact you are already there, the ramparts of the castle one way, shops the other, and we found parking easily following the instructions.

We liked everything and hope to return.

Lucile is a lovely woman. She speaks and writes English well making it easy to communicate. The hotel is old and very quaint- the view from the room was extraordinary! Her breakfast was all home made and very tasty. A lovely stay!

The view is magnificent. We watched sunset in the bedroom, very memorable. Host is very nice and the breakfast was the highlight of our trip. Our girls chose this accommodation as the best one throughout our 6 days trip while we changed hotel every night!

Everything. It was the most stylish, comfortable, interesting and charming place we've ever stayed in. The views over the castle were amazing. The beds super-comfy. Lucille was the perfect host and her breakfast was devine. Not having parking was not a problem. There are so many places to park on road nearby and the neighborhood is super-safe, friendly and quiet. Fougeres is a beautiful town that is well suited for families and couples alike and this hotel is the best we've ever stayed in.

Our stay at Mercier de Montigny, Fougeres was magical. Everything in this medieval house is beyond what we had hoped for. The view of the castle is breathtaking. The room is tastefully decorated with antique furniture. The host is a very kind young lady who speaks English, French, and Spanish and makes the best homemade breakfast in France! You have to be there in person to experience how amazingly peaceful and calming the vibes of this bed and breakfast has. We had absolutely no issue with the floor being squeaky as that is a given with a very old house. But because of that, we think this place is most suitable for mature adult travelers (solo/couple/family/friends) who would avoid disturbing others by walking and talking very loudly. Thank goodness all the other guests were extremely friendly and considerate during our stay so we have nothing to complain about.

The view from our apartment window was amazing as we over looked the castle and the town. Lucile was the perfect host and great communicator ,nothing was too much trouble. The building is a fantastic mix of the old and the new and the dining room is stunning.

I booked this room as a stopover but it was exceptional and I wish I had booked it for longer. The room was wonderful with gorgeous views, beautiful decor and a lovely balcony. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a wide range of fresh food served in a delightful dining room. The host was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The room was surprisingly cheap so that was an added bonus. I highly recommend this lovely hotel. Fougeresis also a charming and interesting location.

Incredible view and very comfortable room. Breakfast, homemade produce and so much choice. Lucile was friendly and helpful. We appreciated the extra toiletries, drinks and the fan to keep us cooler. We hope to return in the future.

Fabulous location in the town centre but very quiet. Wonderful views over the castle from our huge room in this very old historic building. Lucille was lovely and she made an excellent breakfast. Very good value.
