Functional but unremarkable

A disappointingly shabby hotel with rude staff.

Very little, except that we were able to park near the front door of the hotel.

As we were going to arrive quite late I telephoned the hotel to let them know, and spoke to a very nice and helpful woman. By the time we arrived however she gone off duty and had been replaced by a man who was brusque and unwelcoming to the point of rudeness. When I discovered that we had only been provided with one towel in our bathroom he only gave us another one with bad grace. As the bar was still open I asked him for a whisky and water. The whisky came in a tall pencil-thin glass (like a vase for a single flower) but when I pointed out that It was not possible to fit any ice in this glass or add any more water he flatly and repeatedly refused to give me a larger tumbler-type glass. Eventually I had to ask for a tumbler of water with ice, tip most of the water out in the bar sink and add the whisky. To insist that whisky could only be served in a particular type of glass was ridiculous and childish. In nearly forty years of travelling up and down France we have always thought that Ibis and Ibis Styles set the standard for this type of hotel, but the - generally cheaper- competition have caught up with them. Our room in this hotel was grubby and tired, with scuff marks all along the walls and shabby outdated furniture and equipment. Breakfast was adequate but uninspiring, and in an age where Kyriad, Best Western, B&B, City Originals and others nearly all offer a hot dish at breakfast it was disappointing that this hotel did not. We visit France four or five times a year, but will not stay at this hotel again and will now be reluctant to stay in any Ibis hotel we have not stayed in before.

Rather unwelcoming.

It was conveniently located for what we needed with good parking.

On arrival Friday evening, our welcome was rather unwelcoming. Not very friendly staff member on front of house. We were immediately informed that the restaurant was closed on Friday evening - we checked in at around 4.30pm. I wasn't made aware of the restaurant closure when booking the hotel. I requested an extra two pillows from reception, which was met with disdain. I was given them eventually but had to ask twice, as only one was initially brought to the room.

A great stopping point near a gorgeous old town

The Fougeres Ibis Styles is conveniently located near major roadways. It had a huge parking lot onsite, above-ground because it's not in the city centre. It was modern, efficient, and comfortable. It's great value for money. The breakfast was simple and tasty. The hotel is conveniently close to Fougeres, but not in the city itself. The city has a great castle and some beautiful city walls. We wish we'd spent more time there.

Exactly what we needed to rest, relax & renew ourselves after a long day's travelling.

From the warm welcome on arrival - being allocated a ground floor room (we're old haha) to the food & service in the restaurant. Our well behaved dog was welcomed in all areas & my gluten intolerance was & considerately catered for by the waiter & chef.

Just a little niggle hence the 9/10 (probably our fault) we didn't fully understand that the 'inclusion of dinner' really meant that a certain amount would be allocated towards the total dinner cost with the rest being payable by the customer. So being very hungry after a long day's drive we FULLY enjoyed the menu only to find a larger than expected bill at the end. Having said that the meal & wine was so delicious and still represented excellent value for money.

Close to City and clam

Fougeres is quite small city but it's really easy life and full of history and having a big chateau. The room for this hotel was really good for us and we could see our rental car from our room.

We wouldn’t recommend it, we felt that there was little attention paid to customer needs or comfort.

Breakfast was good. Location is basically like driving onto an unfinished building site.

Didn’t get the room requested and then no sleep due to position of the room and the water dripping from the ceiling every two hours during the night.. We felt that the customer service was very poor and the location of the hotel wasn’t great. Thankfully we had a car because the restaurant wasn’t opened that evening.
