La Tour du Lac - Beautiful apartment in the heart of Annecy

The property is at the top of 3 flights of circular stairs but 100% worth the climb, beautifully laid out and right in the heart of the old town.

Tolle Lage mitten in der Altstadt. Nur ein paar Schritte zum See und der schönen Promenade. Für zwei Paare ideal, da auch zwei Badezimmer vorhanden sind. Achtung: Viele Treppen zu steigen! Uns hat das aber nicht gestört. Sehr ruhig obwohl mitten in der Altstadt.

Ziemlich oberflächlich geputzt. Die Fotos optimieren die Wohnung.

Location was brilliant and design of interior was modern and welcoming with plenty of room . There was no noise from the street and easy access to everything. Coffee shop/bakery below. Good communication re keys etc. Good facilities such as ironing board, hairdryers, cooking and laundry. Steps to apartment which is on the top floor.

There was a bad smell of damp/drains in the apartment which was not pleasant. The fire in the lounge area didn’t work. The balcony area was not very clean and the tables hadn’t been wiped- lots of bird mess eventhough they were folded down. Air diffusers hadn’t been changed for a while as they were empty and covered in dust. No bin in one bathroom. Sachets of liquid soap didn’t work well at all and just made a mess in bathroom, pump soap dispenser or bars would be so much better

The apartment is excellent for the following reasons: its centrally located on a pedestrian street in the heart of the Old Town. Its 3rd floor, so to some degree, away from street noise outside. Its steps away from excellent coffee shops, brunch spots, and every kind of restaurant you might want. It is 2 bedroom / 2 bath, with a good size high-spec kitchen, large fridge freezer, 2 coffee machines, dishwasher, washer/dryer, plenty of crockery / cutlery and kitchenware. Has a large dining table and is minutes from a local supermarket. If you're intending to cook meals this is perfect for that. When it was last refurbished, there is interesting artwork on the walls, good lighting, a good large TV set, comfy sofas. The bed linen was clean, plenty of hot water for showers, and overall, the apartment was clean and well appointed.

However, this apartment has not been well maintained. One shower leaked extensively; one bathroom tap was broken; blown light bulbs had not been replaced; there was insufficient toilet roll; no hand soap provided, so I bought my own for €2 from the supermarket. Towels were thin and cheap; the Wi-Fi code was hard to find, stuck on a sticker under a box; the place needs a lick of paint. It's 50 steps up a spiral staircase, so not suitable for people with prams/strollers/difficulty walking. If the price is right for you, then the location is excellent, and the pros are as described. Many of the cons could be remedied easily and cheaply. Would I stay here again? Only if the price was right for me, and I’d pack some hand wash!
