City break in Manchester

Room was cleaned, well-equipped and met our expectations.

Did not realise it was located above a pub. The stairs leading to the rooms were scruffy/ dirty and could have done with a hoover.

AVOID! Small dirty rundown rooms with poor service. Pay the little extra and go to the Maldron.

There was nothing to like.

The room was tiny, not as advertised. Inside the furnishings were run down, lights not working, fittings broken and room not very clean. The bed was slumped on one side. Breakfast was meant to be served at 8am which is late. However, orders were not taken until 8:20 after the chef dashed in at 8:15. Breakfast was eventually served at 8:40.

the staff that we met were lovely and friendly and most accommodating the room was lovely and clean also

major issues with the two breakfasts that we were served to the point where food was sent back as inedible we brought this to the attention of the staff as a result they refunded us for the meals fair play to them

It was a great place to stay after a day of traveling, and we enjoyed a very restful night’s sleep.

The bed was very comfortable, and the TV offered a great selection of channels. Coffee, coffee creamer, and biscuits were also provided for us to enjoy.

The hotel requested a £60 deposit upon arrival, however, instead of a cash deposit, card details were taken in case of any damages. The hotel is located above a very lively pub. We stayed on a Sunday, and while it was quite noisy at some moments and very noise during others at the evening due to the number of people, it was quiet at night.

Noise - it’s a pub and we were there on a Friday night. The room was a strange shape and one of us had to climb over the bed to get into it. The shower control was was broken and difficult to use.

Excellent location right by the Arndale centre & arena. Opposite a sip car park £11 for 24hrs. Great breakfast and bar and good menu very good value with specials sun-friday. Will definitely stay again.

Very poor, unfortunately.

Location’s great.

All seemed well on check-in, but it quickly unraveled from there. Shower temperature unbearably hot, so I just couldn’t get clean. Sink didn’t drain either. Basically unusable, which isn’t ideal. Mentioned it, but told simply that someone was meant to be coming this week to fix it - none of which is a solution for me. And that was that. You can’t let a room out without a functioning bathroom. Unacceptable.

Pretty good

The lobby/front desk is also a public bar, which I thought was a cool, unique touch. Centrally located near lots of shops and restaurants, room was spacious and comfortable.

I didn't like that there was no shower handle, only shower head, which makes it more difficult to shower. And that I couldnt turn off the fan and the lights in the bathroom by myself.

Definitely would come back

As a solo traveler the feeling of safety is very important to me and having the hotel in a place where there's plenty of people around even later at night, it's very good. Even with the pub open, the room is very well insulated, and i didn't hear a thing from outside the room - plus they have ear plugs if you need, but I really didn't see reason to use it. Staff is super friendly. A fair walk from Piccadilly train station or the coach station. Super short walk to the AO arena and several stores, supermarkets and restaurants. Overall, the room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable.

Not that I didn't like, but I wasn't aware (maybe it was on me that didn't pay attention) but breakfast is kind of a la carte. You have coffe, tea, juice and cereal to serve yourself, but the main dish, you have to order. The service was quite fast but if you have a schedule, keep this is mind, as depending on how many people are there, it could take a few extra minutes.

The room was quite noisy. I could hear a fan or ventilation going until about 10pm and then was woken by doors slamming really loudly (from other guests) through the night and early in the morning.

Perfect location and have recommended to others.

We stayed in the cathedral room and found it great value for money, it was comfortable and clean. We would normally stay in the premier inn close by but i think we would opt to stay here every time now.

The only let down was my breakfast, i opted for eggs benedict.......the muffin was really hard as if it might have been left uncovered for a length of time.

For the money, this is a superb stay

I asked for a lower floor room and Ben wrote back with the offer of the Hacienda room on the first floor. Surprisingly, there was very little noise from the bar below, which was cool. Coming back to the hotel after my evening out, things were quiet and I had a comfortable night in a bed with a firm mattress (not for everyone but perfect for me). The shower and bathroom in general were top notch, and a huge breakfast was available in the bar from 8AM. I could find very little wrong in the brief time I was there, but if I have another overnighter for a gig or to be closer to the airport, I'll be back. I didn't catch the names of the ladies who checked me in and out, but they were both delightful, and Sarah who prepared the room did a great job.

Truthfully, there's very little to complain about. Other guests slamming doors is annoying, but not everyone is considerate of others, and it's no fault of the property. At least after midnight, all was quiet.
