The hotel was very clean and well maintained overall, although the rooms felt a bit dated but in a good way.

This is the perfect place for an onsen experience. We stayed in Room Karin for 2 nights. The villa is spacious and well-equipped with a private indoor and outdoor hot spring facility attached in the backyard. The hot spring water did wonders to smoothen the skin and to relax the body. All the staff were super friendly, polite and attentive. Kaiseki-style dinner was served every night in a different private dining room and the food was both creative and delicious. All in all, this is such a unique experience that we hope one day we will visit again, very well done to all the staff!

took the yuzen room and was across the street from the reception. staff was warm and friendly to my children. the room size was astounding for a ryokan. dining emphasized on western elegance. located near kinrin lake and yufuin main shopping street.

nothing i could find fault with

The room/cottage was big, landscaping was nice. Indoor onsen in room was large. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was near to the attractions such as kinrin lake.

1) There were cobwebs in the room at the walls/ door mantles and a lot of dust on the aircon vent and behind / in between the beds. Would not expect this for the price we paid. The hotel did provided 2 air purifiers in the room. The bathroom area and wooden floor were freezing (the stay took place in winter). 2) Some parts of the room looked quite dated especially the wooden cupboards, various marks on the walls etc 3) The food was average in quality. Definitely not comparable to the other ryokans we have stayed at before (eg Loquat and Ochiairo in Izu) 4) We provided dietary restrictions (allergies) beforehand and at check in but the restaurant didn’t fully take note of them and had to be reminded when the first dish was served. This happened for 2 consecutive dinners. (Staff were apologetic)
