Yufuin Kotobuki Hananosho

Although the hot spring hotel looks a little dated from the outside, the rooms and facilities are still well maintained and provide a comfortable stay. Both the dinner and breakfast were impressive and exceeded our expectations. While the outdoor public bath does not offer particularly scenic views, the overall onsen experience was still very enjoyable. The hotel is also conveniently located very close to the train station. You can leave your luggage at the hotel before exploring Yufuin, making it easy to travel around the area without carrying heavy bags. Overall, it was a pleasant and convenient place to stay in Yufuin.

早餐及晚餐十分美味

We stayed one night at the end of a seven-day Kyushu driving trip, on a friend's recommendation, and it turned out to be the perfect way to round things off. Our traditional ryokan-style room looked straight out onto Mt Yufu — a spectacular view. Parking was free, and the hotel is walkable to Floral Village and Lake Kinrin. We opted for half-board: kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both excellent and beautifully presented, though honestly far more than we could finish. Great value for the quality. The in-house onsen was a lovely way to soak away a week on the road. A warm, well-priced traditional ryokan experience with stunning views, generous kaiseki, and a soothing onsen. We'd happily return.

The hotel does feel a little dated...clearly grand in its heyday, but showing its age now.
