the meals are quite good, the staff are friendly, they offer pick up service at the station to the resort.

The furniture and resort decor are a bit outdated. They only provide two towels per person, which isn't enough if you plan to visit the hot springs multiple times a day. To make matters worse, they charge extra for additional towels, which we found unacceptable.

Private onsen and family one

Location: far from Yufuin station but there’s free shuttle bus. Call them when you arrive at the train station. Room: spacious and clean. Mine is with private open bath . Good for privacy but the ryokan itself has 1 public onsen and 2 private onsen. if you are not getting an own attached private onsen at yr room, can use these..no need book, just walk in so long no one occupy the private onsen. Public is open to all but separated between male and female only. Staff: friendly but mostly foreigners but I’m fine with it since can communicate in English. Food: ours with half board of dinner and breakfast. Satisfied and a delicious kaiseki dinner meal. Breakfast also traditional style which I enjoyed it a lot too.

The room was spacious and comfortable, especially loved the tea scents in the room. Nice meals. The young non-Japanese girl staff was trying her best to assist us, which was very sweet. The outdoor onsens were good.

Had this same issue with another ryokan we stayed in Yufuin, even it listed offering shuttle service and luggage storage, but their office is closed from 10am-2pm, and no staff on duty, so the service was no practical use for us and that's kind of upsetting.
