At first I'd been a tad disappointed because the deluxe room with the fantastic valley view had already been taken, but then I realised the queen room has a terrific view of the forest nearby, even from inside the room. I spent half the time just watching the trees. You can even hike up to the trees and further on, there are several hiking paths nearby. There was a lovely musical evening during my stay, with more kinds of accordions than I'd known existed. Music is all around anyway, as the cowbells echo through the land. The place is cosy and very clean, the rooms are well-equipped and the hosts are nice. Plus the food is great. It's a bit far from civilisation, but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you can park in town for 5 CHF a day. It is also basically next door to the Niesen, which ended up being my favourite mountain from the area.

Just a warning: I wouldn't recommend walking to/from the town for a casual stroll, as the path is very steep, so walking back up with a plastic bag of shopping was an intense cardio exercise. Basically, you need a car to take you at least to/from the train station. The only thing I disliked was being so close to the road (only applies to the queen room), as it was somewhat intrusive (previously I'd stayed a night in the deluxe room and it's much more tranquil).

The view of the room was amazing. It has also balcony with great view. You can see all the villages, mountains, nature etc. The room was unexpectedly clean. We love it! They also cleaned the room daily.

I like the room and the view

The room and location itself are indeed nice and look good at first glance. However, our stay was unfortunately not comfortable at all. There were so many flies surrounding us while we were eating and talking, and it got even worse at night. They were very disturbing while we were trying to rest, we could barely sleep and stayed awake most of the time instead of getting the rest we needed. Additionally, some of the staff were quite rude. When we asked if we could borrow a wine opener since we already had our own wine, we were told we had to order from their restaurant instead. It felt unfriendly and unhelpful. While the place looks pleasant, the issues with the pests and the service really made it not worth the stay for us.
