I really enjoyed my stay at Kilmicheal House. The owner was so friendly and kind, and did all that she could to make me feel comfortable. The location was very close to the town centre, so it was easy to get in and out and there were some lovely local shops and restaurants that I was able to try and enjoy. I would go back again.

Accommodation in a quiet location near Loch Ness. Very pleasant surroundings around the house - garden, pasture. Beautiful stone house with a beautiful interior. Large private parking right next to the house. At first glance, absolutely perfect accommodation, BUT...
The welcome from the Charlotte was like a cold shower and the behavior was very unfriendly the whole time.
We arrived at the official check-in time, I informed the accommodation in advance about the exact time of arrival, but the door was closed and we were not expected. No one came to open the door when the doorbell rang. Only after we went around the house we found local volunteer who arranged for us to enter.
Upon entering, we were "welcomed" by Charlotte. We were greeted with a strong request to take off our shoes right outside the front door even though other guests were walking around the house in outdoor shoes. We obeyed. A list of rules followed, what we were not allowed to do. One of the rules was that we were not allowed to bring our own food, so we ate our self-made dinner outside in the parking lot later - we respected the rules. One of the rules was that visitors take their trash with them, which was ensured by locked trash cans. So we took the trash with us, except for a few items that we left in the trash can in the room.
We had the feeling that the lady may have had bad experiences with young guests in the past, which is why there were so many rules and a strict and cold approach. We did not feel welcomed. Perhaps we had aroused distrust in Charlotte from the beginning. Perhaps tea together at five o'clock would have prevented distrust next time. However, whoever can win the heart of the hostess will have a wonderful stay in the beautiful house.
