Hôtel de Ville

Great location and charming building.

Staff in the hotel/restaurant are not the nicest. Not as professional and accommodating.

The mountain view from our room was priceless. The bed was comfortable

Everything was very basic including hospitality. Shower stall was small and the drain was clogged. Tv remote was leaking from the batteries

Being located in the centre of the medieval village of Gruyere was magical - we arrived just after the tourist crowds had left (around 6pm) and had moved on by the time they arrived the next morning... this meant we spent a beautiful peaceful evening strolling around the village and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Hotel was very authentic - could really tell we were in Switzerland rather than a chain hotel - which is exactly what we wanted.

The family room was at the top of the building and extremely hot (it was during a heatwave so understandable), but there was only one fan which barely functioned and was extremely dusty. There weren't enough plug sockets to plug the bedside light as well as the fan or any devices that needed charging - appreciate it's an old building but some extension leads would be beneficial. There was no water or tea/coffee making equipment in the room. We were only provided with 2 towels for a family of 4. The breakfast was a bit limited, although the kids did really enjoy the meringues & cream!!

The location was stunning

The rooms were very basic. I also paid for three breakfasts on arrival. Later realised we had to leave before the breakfast opened at 8am. Tried to get it refunded and was told to come back in the morning but no one was there. I have emailed the hotel but had no response.
