We had a wonderful stay at Chalet am Sonnehang. We stayed two nights, one in the second floor apartment which was lovely and then switched to the “tiny house” so we could have a fire in the wood stove. Nestled in the cozy cabin at night with the warming fire was a perfect alpine experience in sleepy Obertraun away from the busyness and crowds in Hallstatt! We would highly recommend staying here. The hosts were exceptional and very helpful. 😊

We stayed at the Tiny House, which was not only super cute but also very comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend. The place is amazing — nestled in the mountains and close to the lake, it felt like being in a fairy tale. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we could cook easily — they even provide herbs, oil, and salt. I would definitely come back to Chalet am Sonnenhang without a doubt!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. A chalet with a lot of character. Clean and comfortable. Lovely kitchen. Obertraun is a lovely Alpine village away from the bustle of Hallstatt. Ideal for those looking to stay in a quiet place and engage in outdoor activities like hiking, cycling etc. in the surrounding areas. Very responsive and competent management.

The property was super cute,perfect for weekend away. The surrounding was very pretty. If you have small children or are elderly this propery is prob not right for you though, as there are a lot of steep steps.

Absolutely fabulous stay. The apartment was in a beautiful location, surrounded by mountains. The sofa bed in the lounge worked great for our daughter and meant she had her own space. The bikes for use were so handy for a quick pedal down to the lake. I am so pleased we stayed here rather than Hallstatt. It was a great base to explore the area and we hope to visit again.

Check in was easy. Emails explained everything. Location was awesome we walked from train station and everywhere else. Kitchen stocked with most things plus farm fresh eggs which was real nice! Bed and bedding in good condition. The patio had a great view of the mountain and the sheep....it was quiet for the most part. Shower was hot and water pressure great! We loved it!

The Chalet is a13 minute walk from the Obertraun train station. It is an 8 minute walk to the bus to Hallstatt. Obertraun is a picturesque, peaceful village away from the crowds of Hallstatt. It has some 700 residents. There is a supermarket but restaurants are limited. The property is beautiful ... surrounded by mountains. It is impeccably maintained. The apartment was adorable and well outfitted. The owner provided water, orange juice, cofee and tea. She was also very helpful with directions and recommendations. The bed was comfortable, kitchen well equipped and bathroom spacious. I couldn't ask for nothing more! I enjoyed waking up and seeing the sheep graze!! I would highly recommend this Chalet!!

Loved this older house. It has been updated very nice and has all that you would need for several days. Older house so creaky floors and steep stairs but has lots of charm. Large shower & bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Beautiful views of the mountains. Lisa was very helpful and easy to work with.

Our stay at Chalet am Sonnenhang was delightful. It was a pleasure to meet Lisa and Gabbie, and it was clear that they take great pride in thieir property -- as they should -- because it is extraordinary! The suite was very quiet, private, authentic & tastefully decorated, and provided for a very unique experience. The sauna was a nice added amenity, and simple enough that we could figure out how to use it without complications. The grounds are charming, and well-maintained. We highly recommend Chalet am Sonnenhang to future guests and hope to return, someday!

Very clean and relaxing place. About 5 miles from Hallstatt which is very convenient by bus, car or by boat. The host is very nice and friendly and very accommodating.’she offer to let us use their bikes to ride around. You can walk around the property which has sheep and chickens. Overall it’s a 5star for me

Wow. We stayed for one night outside of Hallstatt. What a beautiful apartment. Loved the espresso machine available and the freshest farm eggs you could ask for. It slept three of us well. We walked into Hallstatt (3.5 miles). It was a lovely and very easy walk to get to Hallstatt. But Obertraun had its own charm. Would definitely recommend in all aspects!!

We loved our short stay in this chalet. Absolutely beautiful Mountain Views out by the back garden. The host Lisa was very sweet checking us in. The home is very convenient to Hallstatt but offers a serene stay a few miles away from the touristy area. Also, it was nice to have parking on premises. Lisa also left us farm fresh eggs for breakfast. I’d highly recommend a stay here.

Long story short. Five star apartment and also communication. Quiet neighborhood, really close to nature and lake. Huge balcony with comfy seating and nice landscape view. Apartment was super clean and ready to our stay. Last, but not least, Gabriela's communication was friendly and always in the time.

Great stay. Beautiful property and room. Super friendly host greeted us and gave us some farm fresh eggs. Great local restaurant within walking distance and one of the most beautiful valleys in Austria. Easy to enjoy the area and short distance from Hallstatt. I LOVED this apartment. It was perfect. Clean. Great bed, bathroom and sauna. Heated floors in bathroom. Location was perfect to Hallstaat but Obertraun was a great town to visit unto itself. The host was very friendly. This is one of the best apartment type hotels I've ever stayed in. The mountainous area around this apartment is beyond stunning.

After a long drive from Italy this was a wonderful place to call home. A lovely restaurant within walking distance, a grocery store, and a walk to the pier for the boat to Hallstatt. If a boat ride of 30 minutes does not suit you, a 10 minute taxi ride will. A small farm experience in a lovingly restored house...at the end of the day to come home to the quiet and security of Obertraun was wonderful. Lisa and Gabby could not have been more helpful or more kind to us during our stay. I highly recommend.

Our stay in Obertraum was the highlight of our trip to Austria. We walked in the neighboring valley, hung out in the hammocks and felt right at home with all the nature surrounding the warm and cozy farm style home. A short walk to the small ferry took us to must see neighboring sights. We were blessed by our stay! Steve and Cheryl
