This cozy property was conveniently located right at Boulders Beach with easy access to the beach and penguins waddling through the parking lot at sunrise. Parking was a little crowded during the day but cleared out in the evening. The on-site restaurant offered tasty dinner and we were always met with friendly staff. We were also an easy drive from Simon's Town for other food options. Cape Point was a bit of a drive, maybe 45 minutes but made for an excellent day outing! The room was clean with a well-stocked kitchenette, nice shower, and warm blankets for the chilly weather we encountered. Overall, a very lovely place to stay!

Cannot recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a Hilton, this is not for you. It is a very friendly small hotel right next to the penguins. The staff so friendly and helpful and the food was way beyond what I was expecting. Could not do enough for us. Thank you.

Perfect place to stay and then wake up early the next morning and visit the penguins. No problems queuing for a parking space - you are already there!

While a simple accommodation, it is clean and the location is priceless-adjacent to Boulders Beach. The staff, while on-site were helpful. I had read an earlier post that they did not serve dinner. That must have changed recently as their cafe was open until 7:30 pm. Closed early, but helpful to just hang out as we only arrived late afternoon.

This is a great property for penguin spotting as the penguins were right outside the property after the carpark. The front desk and cafe at the property will close after 5pm though so you need to ubereats or drive out for dinner. It can be very dark outside and the property is not enclosed so strangers can come to your room, so do remember to lock your door. This property has no AC and one small portable fan is provided in the room. The room can get stuffy in Summer. Property has no carpark of its own so you need to park your car outside the property which is an open public carpark. So park at your vehicle at your risk.

Lovely place to stay. Comfortable. Many stairs. Vehicle required, but parking is limited. Be very careful to not park in the lower lot, as it is chained at a very early hour in the evening, and you will not be able to access your vehicle until morning.

Solo Traveler. I really like this property and I think it has a lot of potential. I only stayed one night, but it brought back memories I had as a child traveling in Northern California. What I Liked: (1) Staff (2) Ambience Vibe (3) Views and Penguins. What are some issues: (1) No Liquor License although as of this date the property is applying for one, and hopefully when that is issued they will keep the restaurant open in the evening. (2) Noise. It does not bother me, but the nature of the property is such that you can hear everything other guests are doing. There are "Quiet Zone" signs, but even so, if you are a light sleeper this Hotel may not be for you. (3) For my room at least, the bathrooms need to be upgraded. Overall a great experience and a good value. I would stay again.

The rooms and staff are nice, but what puts this hotel far ahead of any other is its adjacency to the penguins. Getting out to see them early in the morning is easy because the path is right there, and even better is the nighttime, when penguins cross the parking lot to go up to their spaces in town!

Very basic accommodation but location is perfect, right in boulders beach. Staff are super friendly, communal fridge to store drinks and food. Rooms do not have a fridge or Tv. U can take your own drinks and have take aways on the stunning veranda and watch the sunset. The receptionist Cailin is so professional.

The delightful penguins that waddle all around this lodge make this a a unique place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. For example, the General Manager volunteered to personally drive us to the places we wanted to see in Cape Town. We ate in the restaurant each of the three nights we were there and enjoyed all our meals. Very much recommended as an alternative to staying in Cape Town.

Situated by the public car park just 5m from the beach, this B&B & restaurant is a real gem. Our room was clean, comfortable and reasonably sized, the staff were first class, helpful and accommodating, and the restaurant food was excellent. Would recommend to anybody & everybody.

Definitely on the list of the 5 worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t show up after dark - despite calling ahead to let them know we’d be arriving late we had to wait outside for 10 minutes before the night time “security guard” meandered over to let us into our room. There was no bottled water available nor anywhere to buy anything at night in a reasonable distance - make sure to plan ahead and bring your own. Luckily we had iondine tablets. Breakfast was a joke - it was supposed to come with a coffee and juice per person But they couldn’t make our coffee due to a power outage. We asked for a bottle of water (45 R) instead of 2 coffees (35R per coffee) and were told it wasn’t allowed. We even offered to not have the juice either - still no. To top it off it was the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. And they held us hostage for 10 minutes to pay for the water since the credit card machines were acting up due to lack of power despite having confirmed before getting the water that we’d be able to pay with a card.

Wonderful spot to stay while penguin watching. Couldnt be any closer. The sign in the parking lot asks you.to check under your car for penguins before leaving. By the way there is a front desk, just up the steps, left of the restaurant.

The hotel is really well situated next to the beach for penguin viewing. You do need a car and parking may be a bit difficult depending on the season. The hotel gives you a paper for your car to allow parking in the "red zones". Rooms have no air conditioning which generally shouldn't be an issue (check the forecast)... The restaurant is OK but much better options can be found in town...

If you want to be right on the water, I don't think there's a better place anywhere on the peninsula. You're step from Boulder's Beach, and the patio deck for breakfast and drinks later overlooks False Bay. The snorkeling at Windwill Beach is outstanding and is about a 5 min walk away. The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The only reason I took a bit off was that checking in late night was a bit of a mess. The staff leave early evening, and the nightwatchman isn't set up to handle check in. But write them ahead of time and you'll be fine. We got stuck in a lesser room the first night, but the very understanding manager put us in an upgraded room for our other nights, so it all evened out. If being close to the water is important to you, this is where you should be. A great value for the price. Wifi in our stay was ok in common areas, but I think turned off at night. Breakfast is delicious, and the coffee is really good, too! If you're around for a few days, I recommend driving over to the west side for a sundowner cocktail- spectacular!
