Kind of in the lower half of Holiday Inn Express hotels even though it was pretty pricey. Restaurant was just okay. Beds are comfy.

The room had been designed by someone who had stayed in hotel rooms and so knew what should be there and where it should be. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was excellent.

The room was mainly clean. There was an outstanding member of staff named Gareth. My wife and I like to sit in chairs in our room, having booked for two nights. Unfortunately, the room (King Size Double), only had one chair. I talked to Gareth on reception and he brought a second chair within 10 minutes. When we moved the duvet, we found marks and dust on the bed sheet that made it look like it had not been changed. Again, had a word with Gareth and he gave us a clean sheet, offering to change it for us but we managed that. Took a shower the next morning and having covered myself in water, I found that the shower gel container was empty. Gareth arranged for that to be changed also. Overall, I have stayed at better hotels but Gareth was priceless.

Everything was amazing the stuff was amazing! Louis was absolutely a star so welcoming so warm helpful it was one of the best stay we’ve had in a hotel all because of the staff louis was accommodating I have a autistic son who has sensory issues she was supportive helpful provided me with Support when ever I asked and was always offering to do more. Thank you

I enjoyed a one night birthday stay at the Holiday Inn Express Shrewsbury on 5/6 Dec. Check in was friendly and helpful. My room was very spacious, and had everything you'd expect. Vacuuming could have been a bit more thorough, especially in the corners. Ate in the hotel: beer selection fairly limited, and hotel prices (£6 for a pint of Stella). Menu also fairly limited, but had a nice curry for around £15. Impersonal service from the young waiter/barman. Bed was comfy, and had a good night's sleep. A little noise early on, presumably contractors leaving for work. Good sized bathroom, and great shower. Busy breakfast area, but managed to find a table. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit compote, pastries and toast with tea/coffee/juice. Hot buffet selection was bacon, sausages, egg (scrambled only), hash browns, tomatoes and baked beans. Nice late check-out of 11am. Overall, a pleasant stay, and good value for less than £50.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, from check in to check out, the breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice and good quality food. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean ..have no complaints. The hotel itself is not easy to find without the use of a satnav, but being in a quiet location and with the comfy bed a good night’s sleep was guaranteed.

breakfast was a disaster, items not stocked at same time, so no bacon and by time bacon came no eggs and by time eggs came no beans:( very poor. the apple juice was also not working. worst bit about our stay was that I booked a quad room for myself and children ages 18, 16 and 12. We were given a room for 3! Went back to reception and told that this is a quad room! That they get complaints all the time as there is just one very big bed and a sofa bed! That is not suitable at all for 3 fully grown women. it resulted in a dreadful nights sleep. Also I question completely that it is a quad room since we only had 3 cups, 3 glasses, 3 towels, we had to go to reception to ask for more. utter disgraceful.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff at bar/reception were flitting from job to job and 3 x drink glasses were dirty and handed back. Breakfast was tasty, but inefficient service. Booked a slot at 9.30am for breakfast. Had to wait 15 minutes for food serving receptacles to be replenished only to be told "the oven is only small!" Breakfast was carrying on until 10.30! No teamwork tbh with each staff member paddling their own canoo!

The breakfast wasn’t good not much choice not even a fried egg I hate scrambled eggs at the best of times they were horrible me and dry also have received parking fines for parking at the property not like there was anything else by the hotel to park for

Initial check in was great. Smooth and helpful however the stay went downhill after that. Having driven 4 hours we decided to eat in. Mistake. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and my wife the lasagne. When the food arrived I received a beefburger (I don't eat red meat). I returned to the server to explain and she offered to replace with the chicken burger. 20 minutes later it arrived (minus the pulled pork) but by this time my wife had finished eating so both of us ate alone. By way of an apology I was offered a dessert. Unfortunately despite sitting with an empty plate the waitress disappeared. At 5:30 am the rubbish bins were collected from directly under our window. The vehicle reversed, loaded and kept the engine running throughout. When I mentioned all of the above to Reception staff in the morning although, eventually, they agreed to refund the cost of the one meal excluding my drink! I asked whether the hotel was full and was told it wasn't so I asked why we had been given that room as I had booked and paid in advance and had arrived early on the Sunday. Surely there are other twin rooms available? I could see there was nothing else the Receptionist was prepared to do so I asked the hotel manager to contact me to discuss the matter further. As I write this I am still waiting for contact to be made. It's a shame because it could be a good stop off hotel

Lovely staff. Room in need of attention. Smelt very damp & musty. All the tiles grout on bathroom floor, needed re-doing, stains on carpet, window was masking taped up, unsafe tv cord which we had changed. Think theyd overbooked rooms as breakfast was crazy, people stood eating next to our table!
