Parts of the property have been upgraded and there is a working lift. Security keys are very good. Bedside lamps include USB A & C charge points. Furnishings leave a lot to be desired. Beds are cheap metal frames with foam mattresses. Bedside tables are tiny & very dusty. Kettle, mugs etc sit in a small very low cabinet. Tea bags were unidentifiable, various shapes & sizes, one even looking slightly used. The one chair was being used for an electric fan, which was very useful as the window needed to be shut to block some of the noise. The window was filthy inside & out. The bathroom was accessible, but a good size. No barrier to keep the water where it should be. Wash basin is set very low & tiny. Day one we had warm water from the shower. Day two the water was slightly less than cold.

Nice and clean, looked recently refurbished and great for the beautiful station, we were catching a special train at 6.40 and it was ideally located for this. Interesting downloading an app for access to hotel and room, worked very well. The big downside was the noise from the pub downstairs and people outside , l am a bit deaf so it didn't bother me but it kept the wife awake.

Good location.
Not the best for comfort.

Very small loft room with nowhere to hang clothes and only a tiny mirror in the bathroom so difficult when getting ready.

Check in was 15:00. I arrived at 16:20 and the room was still not ready. I complained to the woman at the bar which serves as the reception, she apologised, asked me if I wanted a drink while I waited and then tried to charge me for it! Not a good start to my stay.
However, the room itself was lovely, clean, comfortable, modern and stylish. Extremely good value for the price and literally opposite the train station.
Entry to the hotel is via an app you have to download, but it worked well and saved carrying a key.
Overall, apart from the cleaner still being in my room when I arrived, I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others.

On first arriving at the Tumbleweed Hotel you have to negotiate with the bar staff in the pub, a kind of dismal 70's style ex-working mens club that would make a great film set for any production set in a poor, run down recession blighted town. Waiting and waiting for the absent owner/manager to send a text message with a code to install an app to unlock your door, whilst being tormented by Amy Winehouse blaring at full volume for the only 2 drinkers in the pub. Not exactly the warm, stressfree welcome you'd reasonably expect after a long day travelling. Hopes and expectations were lifted somewhat when we were shown through an obviously refurbished corridor to our room, then all hopes evaporated when we saw three single beds, metal frames loose and noisey, the sink leaking on the floor, and absolutely no space in the room. We had specified a double bed and paid for a 'superior' room, so we managed to get a room swap, into a room that had more dust than a museum archive, dirty toilet rim, plaster wrapping under one bed, two double beds juxtaposed with hardly any floor space. The room was cold, and the water in the shower was lukewarm. It took 5 hours for the heating and water to get hot, as the manager/owner/Scrooge was controlling the facilities remotely whilst playing dominoes in absentia. Bedroom window would not close, or open due to scaffolding right outside. A charming view for the right person!. I will never, ever recommend the Tumbleweed Hotel to.anyone.

Clean property and after a mix up of beds it was sorted quickly. Checking in was stressful and was around 4pm. Unfortunately the noise level from the pub was to much you couldn't sleep. Not suitable for a family. I would return without kids and have a few in the pub.

Brilliant stay in the heart of the town. Very modern, provides basic necessities such as shower gels and tea and coffees. The pub is just downstairs so any issues you can report to them. Keyless entry to the hotel and your room, very good value for money.

Stayed 2 nights. The facilities/room were good. The housekeeping was a totally different story.
Reason being: apart from leaving the window open on a windy winter day while I was at work, left a pile of slightly damp towels on the (unmade) bed and, more eggregiously, left my toothbrush on the toilet lid bristle side down.
Normally I have no need for housekeeping for short stays, but this seems intentional. It's bizarre.
I did complain but didnt receive any email or text, but i did mention to the booting platform as a concern.
There was a sink, cup or rack - literally anywhere - they could have left it instead of brush-down, on the can, right in the middle. A shame, as would've been a 5. Hide your personal hygiene items.

Really nice bedroom and lovely and clean

Great location for train station (opposite)
Really friendly owner who showed you to the room.
No physical key so need your phone to unlock your doors. Also a ring camera door bell to talk to the landlord to get in if needed. Very good value for great location.

Easy check in, clean and compact room in ideal location for Shrewsbury night life

We had booked a family room with king size beds, the beds were not king size. The music from the pub below went on until about 1am and was loud, one of the beds was broken and the slats fell out and they're was no parking so we had to pay for parking in the local car park. As the key was on an app there was no one to talk to about being given the wrong room or our other concerns
The room was clean and we were only there for 1 night but I wouldn't recommend it if you wanted anything else

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean. The location is central me convenient for the station.
The check in process was overly complicated with having to download an app, text the owner, wait for a response, put the received code into the app… all to be able to use your phone as a key. Why they couldn’t just give us a key fob I don’t know.
While the sink design is water saving, it is far too small to use properly to was and brush teeth with.
There are only tiny surfaces to put things on in the room, and while there was a kettle it was in a very awkward place.
The mattress was poor as the springs were poking through making it uncomfortable.
All in all very poor for £72 and I would not ho back.

Great position and basic but very adequate at a fair price

A hassle trying to check in with a system requiring an app and passcodes that needed to be sent. That then didnt work properly.

It’s good for small trips. Bathrooms are very small. No water pressure in the showers and basins.

Undergoing refurb so very dusty. Rooms are nice and modern and spacious. Was concerned about only being able to open room with our phone ? What would be the back up if our phones died? No milk left for me the tea and coffee station which was disappointing. Good location and good price

States two rooms for a family room we only got one bedroom and states it sleeps 4 bur the futon bed was too small and big enough for a child . Place is under refurbishment but not stated before you book . Room was very dusty from work being carried out . Could not open window for fresh air . Nice and modern but definitely was not ready due to the amount of dust . Being woken up at 7am by drilling and banging from builders in the same building so we had to get up and leave for 8.30. Workers knocking our door at 8am about plumping . Felt really restless and stress leaving the building . Our suitcases was covered in white dust from the floors and our clothes . Apart from that I think once the work has been done it will be a lovely place to stay and convenient for the train station but not if you are looking to be woken up so early when check out was not until 11:30. We paid £85 and got £28 back refund so at least that’s something

Good call round friendly staff very helpful rooms small but very clean and tidy
10.0 / 10.0
The property manager was very helpful throughout, noise pollution is a little bit of a problem but always will be at such a prime location in the centre and near to the train station, and the manager is actively working towards sorting this.
