The dinner and service in Salgari on Sept 29 was not very good. Our server was slow and not very attentive. We were very clear with our meal choice of a pesto, green bean and potato pizza but we received a salami pizza. It took 30 minutes to receive the incorrect order and another 20 minutes for the remake. There were 2 other tables of 2 and a party of 9 in at the time. The pizza when it arrived had potatoes that looked like small hash browns maybe 2 little pieces on each slice along with random pieces of green beans and it was underdone. We saw other pizzas that were better dressed, they should reconsider the amount of product used having said that we understand that it Italy pizzas are made with less toppings that are given in North America where there are too many toppings. When it came time to pay we expressed our displeasure with the quality of the pizza and he gave us a 10% discount which was unacceptable. All the while as this was happening a gentleman who appeared to be the manager was having his meal and observing the happenings in the dining room where the service for the other guests was also slow. He was giving some direction to the server and helper but made no effort to touch tables. Very disappointing meal. Our breakfast the next day in the same restaurant was very good with a great selection of offerings. Staff was very good specific kudos to the Floor Manager Sorina who was excellent speaking to all guests…she should run the dinner service here!

We booked this hotel and received a email the day before telling us we had been upgraded to the sister hotel next door The sister hotel did not disappoint with a stunning roof terrace overlooking the city and port Highly recommend these hotels for anyone going on a cruise very handy to train station/airport and cruise terminal Contact the hotel directly and they will arrange transfers for a reasonable cost

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was really welcoming and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Very close to the station and transport to the airport. Easy to explore the city on foot. We liked that we could also use the services from the savoie hotel (really nice cocktails at the rooftop bar)

We werr transferred to the grand hotel. The rooms are fantastic. The bed is heaven, the pillows werr amazing! The bathroom is really spacious, the only down side was that the bidet was leaking water after used, so rhe floor got floaded. Other than that, we loved this place! The breakfast was fantastic with an amazing view of the city and port. Good food variety and the staff is very service minded and kind.

Short stay in Genoa to board cruise for sister's birthday celebration. Arranged for hotel to prepare cake and it was amazing! A pistachio cake setting the standard for all pistachio cakes we may eat after. The team was very kind and patient when we requested a few timing and location adjustments and really made the occasion special. This was a proper ‘old school’ posh hotel where what you’d expect to get, you got! Right from walking through the wrong door the reception saw that our bags were taken to our room no problem and then the restaurant manager bent over backwards as we were only arriving as the restaurant was meant to close. The room was of course upgraded as they figured we’d been travelling as we arrived at 10pm and was perfect! We didn’t stay for breakfast which was a real pity as we overstayed ourselves in the super comfy bed for an extra half an hour!

This was a beautiful, grand old hotel, very close to the station. It’s connected to the Hotel Savoie next door, which is another gem. Room was beautiful large with a well appointed bathroom. One complaint from this spoiled American is that the AC in the room didn’t work as well as expected!

Due to the hotel's circumstances, the accommodation place was changed the day before to the neighbouring SAVOIA Hotel. The changed hotel was next door and comfortable. As a result there were no problems for me. However, it was my first experience of a one-sided change of the hotel I had booked, which surprised me. The information email that came the day before said something like you are lucky with the upgrade, but the most important thing for us is that it is close to the station. It was a great hotel. The only reason I marked the staff at a lower level is the fact they are overwhelmed with phone calls. Upon our arrival the lady was on the phone and barely got a chance to speak with us. The company has two adjoins properties and the other hotel and a proper reception desk and staff but the Cavour only had one doing dual concierge and reception duties. We felt we were an inconvenience to two of the ladies each time we would ask something.

We were sent to another hotel for no reason at our arrival (Hotel Savoia) . The room was very cold, and we could not get an extra heater during three days. The safe was not functioning. There was a window without any outdoor light, it was obstructed as if we were under the ground. When leaving, We were obliged to pay more city taxes than planned by expedia for no reason, and no receipt was given. Horrible stay although the staff tried to be kind, they were helpless. We basically slept with the bath wardrobes in the bed. Crazy.

This review is for sister hotel next door at hotel Grand Savoia where we got upgraded. It’s great they let us check in early at 10 am coming from a cruise. A great 5 star hotel with nice reception desk and elegant lounge. Room was very nice clean and a good size except mattress was little soft. Train station and bus stops including bus for hop on hop off bus is just across.

Inside the hotel was pretty and almost a throw back to 1930’s. The staff hardly spoke English but we were in their country 😊. The area around it is so hard to drive through and if you walk around it was one of the worst neighborhoods we have seen on our entire trip.
