Guest House Roma

Beautiful, old property - very pleasing aesthetically. Rooms were huge and clean with comfortable beds and clean linen/towels. Bathrooms were spotless and there were three in total. A simple breakfast was provided, which was very much appreciated. Air conditioning was available in the breakfast room/check-in area, which was fantastic for a quick cool down. There was also, an accessible lift and free wi-fi. Staff were friendly and approachable.

Air conditioning would be a fantastic addition in the rooms, the rooms were simply too hot (it is however advertised without AC). This could’ve been improved if the fans were of better quality. They did little to appease the oppressive heat. Check-in was not 24 hour and should not be advertised as such. Despite numerous phone calls and messages, it took half an hour to access our rooms. Nevertheless, an easy fix.

Check in was a bit difficult, not great communication with the host.

First of all, the location is great, with Piazza Ferrari right around the corner and Piazza Matteotti and Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and Cattedrale di San Matteo within the 5 minutes walking distance. My advice is not to miss three hidden gems accessible from the property on foot: a tourist information centre by the Cattedrale di San Matteo for starter information, also Antica Friggitoria Carega and Antico Forno Della Casa, accordingly for the best seafood and pastry that I have tasted in Italy in 5 years (importantly, at budget price). The room is clean, a bit simple but all works well with 4 shared bathrooms. The hosts are welcome and cheerful with a true Italian touch and you can make yourself a tea or instant coffee 24 hours

Not that I did not like but I recommend to beware of the heavy brass knockers/handles at the entry gate to the property from via Roma. These are not to mess with and can heavily hit your fingers, so my advice is to be cautious with them
