The Inveraray Inn, BW Signature Collection

A magnificent property in a prime location on the banks of Loch Fyne, and greets you as you enter Inveraray. Peel away the facard and everything is just avarge at best. We had a very good size room with a lovely view, let down by scaffolding which obstructed our view of the Loch, by no means the hotels fault. Bathroom facilities are great, but let down by old worn out mattresses that need changing now. Our food experience was a low point for us. We ate in the lounge and had 2 courses of which was half decent bait very small portions. When our waiter removed our plates, at no time did he enquire if our meal was ok until the very last moment, which really was to late to take on some constructive criticism of our experience. To add a little more salt to the wound, a service charge was added to the bill, to which we asked for it to be removed. Finally the breakfast did not fair better. I requested SOFT POACHED eggs, what I got was to bullet like poached eggs. Normally I would ask or give staff an opertunity to change for soft eggs, unfortunately we where on a time scale and did not have the time. Now those details may seem trivial to some, but the attention to detail make the difference from avarage to good or excellent. Best Western is huge in the UK and it is clear staff have not bought into the Inveraray Hotel Story. Training is critical and standadizes procedures. My opinion only, some staff really don't care about the product BW want to give thier customers.

We loved our 3 night stay here visiting old friends nearby in Cairndow. We were lucky enough the first evening to sit out front with a perfect view of Loch Fyne and watch the local pipe band tune up and play up the street. Always a smiling friendly face to greet us in the morning and when we arrive back in the evening. Our room was large an sparkling clean along with the well appointed bathroom, although it took awhile to find the hair-dryer in the chest of drawers! We had a meal one nights and it was wholesome, tasty and filling. But the breakfasts were an absolute highlight! We'll definitely be back to stay next time venture to the beautiful West Coast of Argyll!
