Fabulous location and stunning bedroom.
The bedroom was so atmospheric and the food delicious.
I cannot say enough great things about the George Hotel. It was like staying in a dream. The hotel looks out at Loch Fyne and the surrounding hills. The rooms are so clean and well appointed. Above all the staff, particularly Anne, was so amazing. They made our entire stay. I would also add to make sure you visit the restaurant. Like the hotel, it is all stone with lovely fire in the fire place and great local food! After escaping from some Scottish weather, it was the perfect place to dry out and have a glass of wine.
Nothing. We loved our stay and hope to return someday soon!

Super hotel, super location on the shores of Loch Fyne. 5 stars!
Great historical location for our overnight stay at the end of our holiday in Scotland. They made us very welcome and gave us a super upgraded room with four poster bed suite. We dined here too with a great choice of menu plus specials. Great atmosphere in the restaurant with open fire near the bar to greet you. Staff very attentive.
Nothing - Can’t wait to return!

Exceptional Romantic Hotel with the best leadership team and staff anywhere!
The hotel is EXCEPTIONAL and worth the trip just to stay there and meet a truly awesome staff that went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all first class, prepared exactly how you ordered, and the Whisky Pub/Snug is the finest we visited in Scotland. My wife and I can't wait to return to this absolutely charming hotel in the future.
We had the pleasure of meeting two of the new owners, Charlie and Sam, and they immediately embraced us with Scottish hospitality by sharing a dram with us in the Whisky Snug. It's obvious that under their leadership they will build on the tradition of The George as the hotel enters its 250th year of operation.
We stayed in The Library Room and I've never spent three nights in a better room anywhere in our travels. It's so romantic with a candlelit bath for two, TWO massive shower heads in the bathroom, and enough mahogany woodwork in the suite to make you feel you're in a Scottish castle. Add to that a collection of books to read in a soft leather chair or couch, and you have the quintessential romantic Scottish hotel experience.
Bravo the Charlie, Sam, and the staff at The George. Thank you for making our honeymoon to Scotland so special.

We should have stayed for a week!

Truly the best hotel experience ever!
The location was wonderful and all of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful & welcoming to us and our dog. We were lucky enough to be given an upgrade to The Library and WOW! What. A. Room!
The Library feels so luxurious, comfortable and spacious and the jacuzzi tub finishes it off perfectly.
We ordered mussels & langoustines in the restaurant that evening and had a truly lovely meal with more excellent service.
In the morning we had breakfast in the hotel and had two Full Scottish Breakfasts which were, of course, delicious.
Genuinely the best hotel experience I’ve ever had - cannot WAIT to book again!
The only thing we didn’t like is that we had booked for a short stay only as we were travelling on the next day. I wish we could have stayed for longer in the best hotel I’ve ever visited!

Great Autumn Break in Argyll
Although I’ve had meals here we had never actually stayed. The place is lovely and atmospheric. Hotel is also in a good spot for exploring Argyll.

Highly recommended for a short stay weekend in this part of Scotland.
Breakfast was great, as were the meals in the restaurant in the evening.
Staff were extremely attentive- they could not do enough for us. We were greeted by the owner on arrival. His presence as evident throughout our stay. This appears to be a very well run establishment.
Nothing, all was satisfactory. The room was comfortable, warm, plenty of toiletries, hot water, towels etc. There is nothing I could complain about.

Best hotel best food best service
We love the charm, the ambience, best restaurant we went to in Scotland. The new owner and all the staff treated us like family.
There’s nothing bad I can say about the George hotel. I would love to have stayed longer next time. I’m in Scotland. I’ll make sure that I stay there again.

An enjoyable stay in a period property with excellent dining
Location, individually decorated room in an old building with lovely bathroom. Top notch restaurant.
Parking was difficult.

Nice hotel, disappointed in the whisky snug
Nice big bedroom with very comfy bed. The food in the restaurant was lovely and restaurant staff friendly and knowledgable. Dog friendly everywhere in the hotel which was great as we brought our dog with us and he was given treats and water and made welcome.
The barman in the whisky bar knew nothing about whisky and openly admitted that which was really disappointing as one of the reasons we were attracted to the George was its whisky snug and had seen its won awards. Staff working in a whisky bar should be given some basic training about what they’re selling.
We had a nice room but it was two beds pushed together to make a double and so had a gap in the middle. For the price we paid for the room, would have expected a proper double bed.

Great place to be to explore Inverary and soak up some history
The atmosphere at the George is great, with very friendly staff and you are in the heart of Inverary, should you want to explore. We were just travelling through but our one night there allowed us to rest and recuperate well after a long journey in from the Western Isles and before starting the long journey south. This included a good supper in the George restaurant soon after we arrived mid-evening: all part of the George experience.

Outstanding as always.
We have stayed at the George multiple times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly, rooms are always very clean and furnished to a high standard. It is a perfect location for exploring the highlands and islands in a stunning location with outstanding food.

I wouldn’t stay here again.
Nothing stands out.
There were stains on the rugs and upholstery. The bathtub was directly in front of a window with only a sheer curtain. There was no privacy. The tub was difficult to get in and out of.

Beautiful property with real character. Staff are outstanding and we enjoyed the food and drink enormously. Great coffee with breakfast which is not always the case in hotels. A wee gem!

Quite a nice hotel in a pretty location near the loch.
The hotel was in a good location in Inverary, although the car park was a bit small we managed to find a space.
We were disappointed that our room was on the second floor, which was difficult for my wife as she has mobility issues. We maybe should have contacted the hotel beforehand and made this clear.
The staff overall were quite attentive, although on our second morning the breakfast waitresses were very casual. Breakfast was quite good, although the buffet items ran out quickly if you didn't get to breakfast early.
Dinner in the restaurant was pricey. We'd booked a table for dinner on the first night , but it was not in a good location and was very low and uncomfortable.

Ok
Breakfast was ordered the day before for room service , order was lost , finally brought to the room , very rushed effort , not the best tasting breakfast ,
Shower had a trickle of water , absolutely not worth what we paid for the overnight stay

A family reunion
I have been to inverary before and enjoy .........some of the service staff were very pleasant
Some food portions were small ....1 of the service staff had an abrupt manner at dinner..... at breakfast.having used the kniife on the table we needed another...... 1 of the party went to an unused prepared table and lifted a knife whereby he was abruptly told the table had been preset for use by 1 of the service staff .....she promptly replaced it from the servary we hadnt noticed where the cutlery was stored........
.the shower had no handle or slip mat my husband slipped fell and hurt his neck in the shower......I am disabled due to a fall and found it too difficult to use the shower.....the tv was positioned to the right of the bed I would have preferred it to face the opposite wall instead of having to twist my head around to look at the screen as is the usual position in most hotel rooms I have visited

Not good
No TV reception at all my wife has limited mobility so sat watching 4 walls not good. We handed key back in and left. No refund of any sort.

Definitely recommend
Big room, nicely decorated. Comfortable, big bed. Lots of tea/coffee, nice coffee machine. Delicious breakfast which was made to order. Didn't hear any noise from other rooms or outside.
Spotlights let down the decor of the room. Shower took a long time to heat up. Dark tartan carpet on the stairs made it difficult to see the individual stairs. Coffee pods in room didn't have anything on them to say what they were. Small telly and it was far away from chair/bed so difficult to watch.

Marvellous and characterful hotel with great staff and THE most extraordinary whisky bar in the area
Breakfast was a good range of dishes and some excellent haddock. Staff were friendly even though we needed an early start ahead of a long journey.
Getting breakfast slightly earlier would have been appreciated in this particular case.
