Gorgeous castle close to Edinburgh! So far the main areas are renovated and they are stunning. The aesthetic blends castle feel (gold mirrors, beautiful wooden buttresses, textured wallpaper) with fabulous modern touches (lighting and tiling). We stayed in suite 27 and it had luxurious touches throughout (copper bathtub, double headed shower, new tiling, beautiful new bed) mixed with remnants of the castle feel (tapestry headboard and ancient well (secured) . The bar was classy and had a wide array of wine and full bar on display. The dining room was gorgeous and we had a phenomenal dinner and breakfast. The library is a great spot to read and has a hidden whiskey room. Ask for the castle tour! So glad we stayed here!

Fairy tale. Came out to celebrate my wife and buddies 40th bdays and it will be one we will not forget. First time visit to Scotland and it was a must to stay in a castle. This is the castle you should choose every time. From the moment you pull on to the grounds and the castle comes into view, to the amazingly different yet stunning rooms, to the once in a lifetime experience of the tasting menu in a 13th century dungeon. Now due to location and Fringe festival it was very difficult getting to and from the property (not by any fault of their own) but they made up for it amazingly by helping get taxi's and transportation set up to and from. The staff especially the main young lady at the front desk are world class and help make it such an enjoyable experience.
