The Shepherd's Hut - Wild Escapes Wrenbury off grid glamping - ages 12 and over

The location was absolutely beautiful. Safe, secure and beautiful. Toilet was adequate despite the short walk. We didn’t try the shower as the hot water tap was very questionable.

The shepherds hut is very small. It would be great for 1 person but the bed situation is very tough for two adults. We are slimmer than average size adults and really struggled to sleep side by side on the bed. The built up sides became quite claustrophobic. Communication was excellent. Logs provided for outdoor fire. Outdoor seating was also provided which was lovely. I’m so glad we had good weather. Everything you needed for a short stay really. The other residents on the lake were also very sociable and pleasant.

We had such a lovely time, ideal location with the Dusty Millar restaurant being just a short walk down the canal. Great communication with owners, easy access even late at night. Beautiful little shephereds hut.

Only downfall was the fire alarm kept going off on our first night. It was quite cold, however the hot water bottles were a nice touch. We would have loved a log burner. Quite cozy for the two of us, maybe more storage is needed, outside. Didn't realise that there were bigger huts on site and next time we will be looking at these instead.

* Comfortable sofa bed with clean, fresh bedding * Lovely hot water and strong pressure in the bathroom * Thoughtful touches: crockery, pans, mugs, hot water bottles, and table set up nicely * Cosy blankets provided * Quirky fire pit made from a tyre rim * Homemade swing chair near the entrance * Peaceful, private setting with nice outdoor space * George (the owner) was responsive and pleasant * Fun, unusual aesthetic (mannequins and all)—in the daylight * Great spot for fishing and off-grid vibes

* Bathroom was clean but looked a bit scuzzy * Sofa bed was mistaken for separate couch + bed in booking photos. Which is admittedly on us for not checking properly. * Only two tea bags and pillows provided (small gripes, but worth noting) * Fridge was broken despite being advertised—ice blocks provided but defrosted quickly * Carbon monoxide alarm went off multiple times (including just from boiling the kettle). I can’t imagine it would do well if using the gas heater. * Sink overflow drained directly into the kitchen cupboard. This combined with the blaring carbon monoxide alarm resulted in some extremely burned bacon butties. * Too many locks/codes made entry feel like solving an escape room * Mannequins + isolated location + flickering lights + empty campsite = a bit terrifying at night * External sliding lock on the outside of the hut door could be a safety concern * Site is unstaffed the majority of the time—felt unsettling when alone
