About this farm stay rental

A Home Away from Home in the Heart of Tuscany
Nestled on a Tuscan hilltop, Belvedere Farmhouse is a beautifully restored 19th‑century villa with timeless appeal and breathtaking panoramic views over rolling vineyards and silvery olive groves.
A haven of peace and relaxation, Belvedere is the perfect place to slow down and embrace the Italian way of life. Ideal for multi‑generational families, accessible holidays, or groups of friends, the farmhouse offers both tranquillity and space while providing an authentic gateway to Tuscany’s rich heritage and natural beauty.

The Property
Originally built in the early 1900s and operated as a working farm until shortly after WWII, Belvedere Farmhouse retains much of its original rustic character. Exposed wooden beams, old stone fireplaces, and antique iron gates are seamlessly blended with modern comforts including Wi‑Fi, British plug sockets in the bedrooms, monogrammed pool towels, and an excellent ice machine—perfect for long summer evenings.

Accommodation
Belvedere Farmhouse is available for exclusive rental and can accommodate groups of varying sizes:

Main farmhouse: Sleeps up to 13 guests
(3King, 1 doubles, 2 twins, 1 single) with 4 recently refurbished bathrooms
Additional wing (optional): 3 further bedrooms
(2 king, 1 triple with 3 single beds) plus 2 bathrooms, increasing capacity to 20 guests
One bedroom is wheelchair accessible – please enquire for details
Independent flat (optional): Sleeps 4 guests
(1 king bed, 1 large sofa bed)

Cot beds for infants and babysitting services can be arranged upon request.

Living Spaces
The farmhouse offers generous communal areas designed for both socialising and relaxation. These include a large sitting room with an open fireplace, a spacious open‑plan dining area seating up to 24 guests, and a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a traditional wood‑fired pizza oven.
The kitchen opens onto a sun‑filled veranda and Mediterranean garden, while a more informal lounge—with a large flat‑screen TV, deep sofas, floor cushions, and a selection of well‑loved books—creates the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon siesta.

Outdoor Living
Belvedere’s elevated position encourages guests to make the most of the outdoor spaces. Two terraces offer unforgettable views:

The south‑facing terrace is ideal for breakfast with vistas stretching to San Gimignano’s iconic towers
The west‑facing terrace is perfect for sunset aperitivi

The 12 × 7 metre swimming pool, set among olive trees, is complemented by two gazebos. A child‑safe gate and fencing provide peace of mind for families. Outdoor lighting, comfortable seating, and a high‑quality BBQ make al fresco dining a joy from morning to late evening.

Services
A friendly local housekeeper is available to ensure guests feel well cared for throughout their stay. Tailored to individual requests, she can arrange bicycle hire, winery visits, day trips, and delicious home‑cooked meals prepared with fresh local ingredients. Advance booking is required for these services.

Location & Nearby Area
Within easy reach of Florence and Pisa international airports, Belvedere Farmhouse is perfectly situated for exploring central Tuscany’s art, history, landscapes, and exceptional cuisine.
From Renaissance Florence and medieval Siena to cycling the ancient walls of Lucca or enjoying an evening passeggiata in nearby Certaldo, every day offers new discoveries and unforgettable memories of la dolce vita.
Beyond the famous cities, the surrounding countryside is dotted with charming lesser‑known towns. Montaione is a local gem, known for artisanal craftsmanship, beautiful architecture, and outstanding organic produce, including honey, cheeses, and traditional Tuscan cured meats such as finocchiona and soppressata.
Certaldo hosts the vibrant Mercantia Street Theatre Festival each July, while Volterra, San Gimignano, and Monteriggioni are all within easy reach.

Gastronomy, Art & Activities
Tuscany is a paradise for art lovers and food enthusiasts alike. The region is renowned for its wines, olive oil, porcini mushrooms, and prized white truffles. Nearby San Miniato, just 10 km away, hosts the famous White Truffle Festival every November and a Slow Food market on the third Sunday of each month.
Guests receive an extensive insider guide curated by the Belvedere team, highlighting local experiences, dining, and activities. We recommend arranging activities with the host upon arrival.
The surrounding hills are ideal for cycling, with high‑quality bike hire and mapped routes available. Within a 30‑minute drive, guests can access golf and tennis facilities, while a nearby riding school offers horseback treks through the Tuscan countryside for all skill levels.
Local markets, traditional trattorias, seasonal sagre, cooking courses, and food tours can all be arranged.

Getting Here
Belvedere Farmhouse is located approximately 45–60 minutes by car from both Florence and Pisa airports. For ease of travel, frequent flights, and convenient car hire, Pisa Airport is generally recommended.

The shabby chic style and personal touches create a home away from home and we didn't want to leave! It is very well equipped with a fantastic kitchen - great for dining at home ...there is even a wooden fired pizza oven! The movie room with huge floor cushions was perfect for the children to lounge on and watch their favourite DVDs. The 12 metre swimming pool is surrounded by a gated fence making it child friendly and we loved the personalised Belvedere towels! Vittorio who is passionate about his wines chooses a selection of house wines and prosecco for his guests. On arrival you are given a bottle of the family Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the pantry is stocked with essentials. Sandra, the housekeeper, comes to the house every day and can also be called upon for shopping, cooking and babysitting. Belvedere is 10 kilometres from the medieval town of San Miniato, Certaldo is another local town well worth a visit. Slightly further afield are Volterra, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, while Siena, Lucca and the coastal town of Versilia are less than an hour away. Although it is wonderfully remote you are still connected via wi-fi – if you want to be!! Would highly recommend! Can't wait to go back! Georgina - September 2015
