Atholl Palace lodge

We really enjoyed our stay in Pitlochry it’s just a pity we didn’t get a good nights sleep

Great location It had everything you need Clean and tidy Warm and cosy

What I didn’t realise when booking was that there are apartments above also, the sound proofing is very poor hence it was very noisy, the couple above had a small child who was constantly running around until two or three in the morning so we never had a decent nights sleep, it’s no fault of the child I thing it would be better for couples with child would have been more suitable to have been on the ground floor .

It would have been a fantastic stay if it wasn’t for our first night trying to find our lodge in the middle of the night

It was very close to this quaint little town of PITLOCHRY. Walking distance to town and the Highland Games. The Palace has beautiful grounds with running streams. The price of the lodges are more affordable than rooms inside the palace. The palace has a restaurant, bar and a one-man band. There is no free breakfast for the lodges.

The staff doesn’t communicate very well. We checked in at 10 pm so it’s very dark. The front desk didn’t give good directions to our lodge plus the lodge isn’t marked very well so it took us 30 minutes to find the place. Maybe the Scotts don’t know how to describe directions to foreigners. She talked to us as if we live there. I can’t recommend this place to people. I’m used to Americans being more detail-oriented when giving directions.

Excellent location, beautiful surroundings, plenty of things to do if it was a walk or relax by the bar

Only minor complaints the water was brown from running tap was unsure why, or wasn’t made away of this prior to stay or would have bought bottled water. There was no place mats for sitting at the table to eat at the glass table. Felt there could have been a fence at back between myself/neighbour, in a nice decking area to sit out at. There was no hand soap at any of the sinks. If you’re going all out maybe extend the balcony of the lodge.

We had a wonderful holiday and setting and hotel facilities were great

Setting was stunning. Think lodges need a bit of an upgrade .. carpeted stained and headboards in mist rooms were ripped and worn . Bulbs out in some bathrooms

That they only had a minimum of 6 plates, glasses and 3 dishwashing tablets ( we had to go to reception to ask for more. Vacuum hose wasn’t attached so didn’t work properly

Lovely location and stay, a real experience for those travelling in a group.

Loved the spacious accommodation, which held 8 of us in total comfort, the finish of the accommodation is very good and set within the stunning grounds of the Atholl Palace. Access to the pool and other hotel facilities is also a real plus and the welcome basket adds a lovely touch.

Some practical aspects could be worked through better, with a shortage of mugs and lack of a tea towel being a bit of a pain in self-catering accommodation. The blinds are also not fantastic at keeping the light out, so an eye mask is a must.

Disappointing

Fantastic location and great grounds. The staff were great. Good facilities. The spa and pool were lovely. Its a beautiful hotel. It has nice furniture and good decor but it is the little things that let it down.

We were in a 'cottage' - which wasn't a cottage at all - it was an apartment in a house. With people upstairs - no insulation so you could hear ever step they took, every word they said and their TV! It was self catering - but the kitchen was really poorly equipped. Random plates and bowls, not matching in design or number. Very little cutlery. NO CORKSCREW!!! so every time we wanted to open a bottle of wine we had to walk to the hotel and ask the bar staff to open it for us!!! No tea towels!! Pathetic shower - just a hose taken from the bath taps. The food was very expensive for what it was - £26 for a chicken burger, £40 for afternoon tea! The picnic bench outside our 'cottage' was in a state of complete disrepair - paint peeling of the top and seats, dirty and old. Disgusting to eat off.

Wat een mooi landschap is het daar. We kregen een upgrade denken we want het huisje wat we kregen was boven onze verwachtingen. Het was geen cottage maar een groot huis. In 1 woord geweldig. De omgeving ook zo mooi.

Dat de jaccuzi bij het zwembad niet werkte, maar dat mocht onze pret niet drukken
