I recently stayed at Darwin 8 in Mexico City, and unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. While the location is undeniably perfect, being within walking distance to everything you might need - from restaurants and coffee shops to high-end shopping in Polanco - the hotel itself requires significant improvements. On a positive note, my room included a nice kitchenette, which was a welcome feature, although the absence of dish soap was a minor inconvenience. The hotel's location is truly its saving grace, offering easy access to a vibrant neighborhood full of dining, shopping, and leisure options. Additionally, I felt safe during my stay, thanks to the 24-hour staffing, and I found the staff to be very nice and helpful, especially when dealing with noisy neighbors. In conclusion, my stay at Darwin 8 was just okay. While I personally will not return, I recognize that experiences can vary. If you decide to stay at Darwin 8, I suggest going in with an open mind and, hopefully, you'll have a much better experience than I did.

Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the cleanliness, or rather the lack thereof. The floor in my room was not clean, setting a disappointing tone for the rest of my stay. Additionally, my room faced the highway, and the noise levels throughout the night were unbearable, despite the hotel providing earplugs and black-out shades. This was a major drawback for me. Another inconvenience was the lack of an elevator on the property, which might be a concern for some guests. The condition of the room also left much to be desired; my shower was broken, with duct tape on the bottom corner, and water leaked all over the floor with every use, despite the shower door being closed. It's clear that Darwin 8 is in desperate need of some tender love and care. A thorough cleaning, fresh paint, and some basic maintenance would go a long way in improving the overall guest experience.
