First of all, wonderful, wonderful staff. I was there for 10 days and got to know them well. The restaurant downstairs, Yerba Santa, is fantastic. With the ho(s)tel, just be aware of what you are getting into. Many of the rooms share the bathroom and are very small. This is how the cost remains so reasonable. I took full advantage of the rooftop terrace and kitchen, early in the mornings with coffee and in the afternoon with a glass of vino tinto. I will definitely go back when I need the same kind of no frills arrangement again.

The room was comfortable and clean. It was a little unnerving arriving at night, no staff and just letting ourselves in but it all worked like clockwork and felt secure. You definitely need ear plugs as the street noise is fairly constant. We were hoping for a convivial experience with other travellers but didnt see one other guest during our 4 night stay (we had a private room at the front of the building).
Location was good.

The room was beautiful. The only thing was that the stovetop wasn’t working. Aside from that, great living space.

I'd stayed here before, and the room was fine if you ignored the noise, but this time I stayed in one of their smaller rooms. It looked nice in the photos, but in person it felt like a rural hostel. The room smelled strange, the sheets were very rough, and you could hear every sound from outside and from inside to outside, so there's really no privacy at all. Next time, if only these rooms are available, I’m going to go somewhere else because it’s really not worth it for the price.
