Maison Melrose was a wonderful place to stay. Quite unique as it was built into the rock which kept the downstairs very cool. The bedrooms had aircon which was lovely in the heatwave.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped - there was nothing we couldn't find! It was also super-handy having parking just outside the house, and we were lucky enough to get superb weather so we could enjoy the beautiful terrace. The beds and bedding were really comfortable and we all slept well here. The house is really charm and the location beautiful. We knew the host was easy to get hold of should we need her, but fortunately we didn't.
It wasn't a problem for us, but some people might have really disliked the number of insects in the house - there were lots of long-legged flying spider-type things about and loads of ants, including in the downstairs beds, but it's not really surprising given that the house is surrounded by nature and didn't really bother us. We just made sure all food was immediately put in the fridge once finished with.
The en-suite bathroom above the double bedroom also doesn't have a door (it's just the whole floor above), meaning that if you get up to go to the bathroom in the night you light up the whole room, and if you don't put the light on you have to climb the creaky, bending steps in the dark - also not a good idea. We were only there 2 nights so we managed OK.

The maison was Jdorable! Very rustic french and picturesque! Plenty of space and the upstairs bathroom was divine. Could have stayed here a month!
