Lovely location and great staff

We enjoyed our stay, the lady on reception welcomed us to the resort she was so lovely, the location is great, they have a bar on site that has a happy hour till 7pm we loved this as affordable and lovely atmosphere.

The beds were solid like a ledge… the rooms are cute but could do with updating. The balcony doors are thin you can hear talking from nearby.

Wonderful spot for divers. Great restaurant on site and walking distance to other beaches.

If you are a diver it is great as they have their own pool and boat available.

Good place for your Koh Tao time!

Staff were exceptional! So kind and helpful! Location, the best! Calm pocket of the island, right on the beach. Pool not always available for various reasons. Plumbing does need some attention, but not too disturbing. Mattress was typical Thai firmness like you would expect (not for everyone). Available drinking water, deep clean room every 3 days. Nice balcony, little peak at the ocean from it. There is some sound at night, but nothing out of the ordinary and gets quiet when it is supposed to. Fair price scooters available!

Idyllic stay for learning to scuba dive.

Amazing location, right on the beach in a nice, more civilised part of the island. The scuba school with Hydronauts is brilliant too. The room is nice and big, good balcony with great views of the sea, nice cafe with beanbags. 2 mins walk to 7/11, restaurants etc.

Bathroom is ok - did have a bit of a funny smell at times, but you're not in the room much anyway. Sound proofing isn't the best, so you can hear people getting up for early dives etc.

Place is great if you want to learn to dive or take a dive. Otherwise its noisy--there is a massive parking lot inside the hotel area, and you cannot use the pool usually. The restaurant is expensive but good. There are many quieter places nearby that are less expensive.

The staff was amazing. Nine at the front desk was super kind and helpful. Alvis at the bar was always there joke and help us out. Adrian, Jess, Rafa, Madison, Gary and the others in the dive shop were awesome. It was the perfect place to stay and dive. Would definitely stay there again.

I would probably recommend getting a haircut someplace other than hydronauts.

A real gem of a place

The location is unreal. Rooms are perfectly clean and honestly for the price it might be the best value for money on the entire island. I had the sea view family room and got woken up by the sound of birds and waves. Pure magic. Also the crew is super fun, at sunset you can have some drinks with the crew, share stories… big shout out to Luke. Real legend.

If you don’t go diving you might be bothered by the sound of their boat shuttle in the morning.

It is further out from everything, but still next to a cute little town with pretty much everything you need. But, our door couldn’t lock at all and there were lots of ants in our place.

Highly recommended, best place on the island to stay. Close toq everything but nice and quiet tucked out the way.

Amazing location by the sea tucked out the way but easy walk to the restaurants. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dave the owner of the dive shop is a top bloke and incredibly knowledgeable. I will be returning next year and will definitely stay here. I want to bring my kids here to learn to dive.

Dream location, great value for money.

Loved loved loved the location, had a top floor room, sea view, right on the prettiest beach. Good choice of bars and restaurants nearby. Room characterful and large, if rustic. Staff experience hit and miss. Plenty of storage. Great value for money.

Bed a bit basic, some outdoor cushions would have been nice. Doors have gaps so no noise proofing if you're at the restaurant end.

A really memorable two weeks diving and staying with Hydronauts

The whole ambience around this fantastic dive resort is lovely. Friendly helpful staff, lovely location right on the beach, with long tail access to the large spacious Hydronauts Five Boat. The Barracuda restaurant has wonderful and varied food overlooking the bay and Hydrate bar with bean bags is perfect for sunset drink. Dive centre is very professional with really friendly and helpful instructors and dive leaders. Rooms are spacious and clean with a/c, coffee, good WiFi and a really comfortable bed :)

Quiet confortable place in the diving paradise

We had a confortable stay. The room was wide and quiet, with a confortable bed and a handy little fridge. Plenty of services around, ATM, 7eleven, nice restaurants, motorbike renting, scuba diving schools (one in the same hotel). You can book snorkel and diving tours, they pick you up from the hotel reception. The staff was very kind. They allowed us to check-in a little earlier, as soon as they could have the room prepared (we arrived in the overnight ferry). They also answered all our queries patiently and managed booking the ferry to Bangkok for us. We really appreciate their kindness and good disposition.

The Chalok beach is a nice lookout but not so for having a swim. You definetely want to book a snorkel or dive tour, or walk to nearby bays, or rent a motorbike to explore more distant ones

Nice hotel great staff but I couldn’t get past how hard the bed was.

The rooms are very basic. I had a swarm of black ants in my room when I woke up.lady at reception was really nice and sorted this out for me. Staff very helpful and happy.

I didn’t sleep for 2 nights as the bed was like a strip of wood.it was so uncomfortable for me.

Disappointing

The room had a nice balcony with a great view of the Chalok Bay.

The bathroom had some kind of leakage, possibly from the toilet and a funny smell. The fan in the room was half broken, making some loud noise all the time. The AC was available, but not really cooling. The shower stopped while I had soap all over my hair after 3 or 4 minutes and no more water would come out of it. The staff there was not really the most welcoming. Overall I definitely recommend to stay in Chalok Bay, but not in Hydronauts Resort.

Comfortable but wouldn’t return.

I loved how close the resort is to the 711 and surrounding Restaurants and moped rental. The AC was great (when there was electricity) and the rooms were clean. You can walk to shark bay and freedom beach if you can manage the heat and hills.

You can’t use the pool because of the divers. The beach is really not that pleasant (murky muddy floor and shallow). It takes you about 10-15 minutes to reach water you can snorkel in. The rooms are not soundproof so it’s very noisy at night and early in the morning when the divers leave. Unfortunately the electricity went out a few times over our 4 night stay.

Quiet location. Convenient access to Mae head pier for diving - just a short scooter ride away. The barracuda fish restaurant at the resort is great food and nice atmosphere. Rooms were clean if spartan.

Nothing bad to report. Would be great if the resort offered full breakfast menu although nearby there are many good breakfast spots. Beds were quite firm so if you want cosy soft mattresses look elsewhere.

Great nice chill resort, dorm rooms was just 2p room, basic bathroom but everything was great. not on the busy part of the island, which is a plus imo. Still lots of restaurants around. Friendly staff, very chill vibes, nice bar with the best bartender!! and the diving is so much fun, the instructors are the best.

Very nice hotel in amazing beach only few steps away!! You can hear waves from your balcony Staff are very attentive and nice restaurant downstairs. You can also get skuba diving classes right in the hotel Many shops, 7-11, restaurants and coffee shops around this hotel. I also attended yoga classes just next door in ocean sound Room is big and beautiful

Maybe just a shower head need to be replaced And was hard to get to 3 floor with my suitcase

Great dive resort in Kho Tao

Delightful stay, with an awesome dive center on site. The rooms are comfortable, and have great storage for all your clothes and gear. The dive center is amazing - their instructors and DMs are incredibly knowledgeable, and make diving both safe and fun.

We cannot recommend Hydronauts highly enough. The location is perfect, right on the beach. The staff couldn't be lovelier and the diving was fantastic. A truly wonderful stay - we didn't want to leave ❤️
