Canal Side Cottage Wakefield

I've been to Wakefield many times with work but had never been to the canal at Stanley, I've missed out! The cottage was very comfortable and a great location to bring our dog to as there are walks on the doorstep and a large back garden. The pub across the way, The Stanley Ferry, is cheap and cheerful and serves food.

While I know that lots of information is online now a local information folder in the cottage would have been nice to have. Nothing to do with the cottage but just to note, you cant take a dog indoors at the Stanley Ferry pub, which is ok in the summer but could be chilly come the winter.

Cosy home from home. This place didn’t feel like your average place, it felt like a home which made the stay more comfortable

Property is in a fantastic location right on the canal. Parking is easy and close to the property. Great walks around and pub just across the river, but closes at 10pm so nice quiet evenings. The property itself was outstanding. Spotlessly clean and all the essentials provided (plus some treats). Everything you needed was there for a ‘home from home’ stay. Bifold doors make a great indoor/outdoor feel. Beds comfy and plenty of extra blankets & pillows provided. Showers were clean and good pressure. WiFi good and no issues with phone signal. Worth knowing that the entry to the property involves driving down the canal path, totally fine but caught us and the Tesco delivery driver off guard! The host - Rachel, was quick to respond if we had a question.

The location & the facilities

On the whole everything was good although the taps in the bathrooms could do with being sorted as loose & one turns the wrong way but not really that big a issue
