The Douiria

Checking in was the first worry as many reviews mentioned it was off the beaten path, however my driver spoke with Noufissa and she came out to greet us at the drop off spot and took us to the home. The whole stay, she was wonderful; preparing breakfast for us (even with some special requests), cleaning (esp after a wind storm the roof needed her TLC), and helping with accommodations for an unexpected guest. For check-out, she even took us to the drop off spot to meet with our driver she had arranged. The location was quite nice, and mostly quiet. The terrace is beautiful, and a great place to unwind after a long day in the souks. The washing machine was also amazing to have, especially with us travelers being on the road for weeks already. Speaking of the souks, it was very convenient to get into the thick of things. The main square was about a 15-min walk, and there was plenty to see and experience between that and the home. Inside the riad itself was just a beauty in itself. A great home-base whenever we needed a break from the bustle of the city. The multi-door entrance also gave peace of mind (if there ever was any lack thereof). Not having a television was not a problem for us at all, it wasn't until the last day did we realize there wasn't even one there. Our 4-night stay was short, and could easily have been extended longer. The home felt like home, and something I value when traveling abroad. The WIFI was actually amazing in this home, but not so much outside on the terrace.

By no means a fault of the owner, but some people may be bothered by the kids who would hang out just a few feet from the entrance late at night. The noise of their chatter could only be heard from the bathroom off the kitchen; easily solved by closing the windows, and the bathroom door. They did offer us some elicit substances, however legal where we are from, not so legal in Morocco. So to us, just felt like a bunch of kids hanging out having a good time--and would definitely prefer that, over alcoholic intoxication.

Olyan reggelit kaptunk, amit szeretünk. Hihetetlenül rugalmas szállásadó. Minden nap eljött Noufissa és leste a kívánságainkat. Máriával is tudtunk kommunikálni, intézte a segítséget, amikor szükségünk volt rá. A tető terasz 3 szintes, minden nap kényelmes párnákkal várt, árnyékos rész is kialakítva. A házból kilépve 100 méteren belül kis éttermet találsz, postát, taxit, kis boltot, ahol vizet vehetsz, vagy 1-2 zsemlét, friss forró kávét, az árusok sokaságát. Gyalog 10-15 perc alatt eléred a Jemaa el Fna teret, de úgy is több lesz, mert útközben annyi mindent látsz. A környék a bazár sikátoraiból áll, de épp ez adja a varázsát. Végig biztonságban éreztük magunkat. Nagy szeretettel ajálnjuk mindenkinek, hogy legyen olyan jó élményetek ott, mint nekünk volt. (magyar nyelven) We got a breakfast that we love. Incredibly flexible host. Noufissa came every day and listened to our wishes. We were also able to communicate with Mária, she arranged help when we needed it. The roof terrace is 3 levels, waiting for us every day with comfortable pillows, and there is also a shaded area. When you leave the house, within 100 meters you will find a small restaurant, a post office, a taxi, a small shop where you can buy water, or 1-2 rolls, fresh hot coffee, and a multitude of vendors. You can reach Jemaa el Fna square in 10-15 minutes on foot, but it will be longer because you see so much on the way. The area consists of the alleys of the bazaar, but this is exactly what gives it its charm. We felt safe the whole time. We recommend it to everyone with great love, so that you have as good an experience there as we had.

Bem localizado, próximo as ruas principais da Medina. Comercio proximo. Apartamento muito bom, limpo, banheiro novo, bom chuveiro e camas confortáveis, wifi bom. Noufissa nos recebeu muito bem e muito atenciosa.

Na chegada, o transfer oferecido pela acomodação atrasou muito. Meu voo atrasou mais de uma hora e ainda esperamos bastante tempo no aeroporto. O rapaz que nos buscou foi simpático, mas não cheirava bem e foi muito desagradável o odor no carro. A localização do apartamento, apesar da proximidade, sempre tinham homens estranhos oferecendo drogas nas ruelas de acesso durante a noite. Próximo a entrada e embaixo da janela de um dos quartos, sempre tinham homens conversando, parece tratar de um ponto de venda de drogas. Como estava com meu marido, foi tranquilo, mas se estivesse sozinha ou acompanhada somente por mulheres ficaria bastante receosa. Não é uma falha da acomodação e sim da região, talvez procurar as autoridades responsáveis para que resolvam esse problema. O café da manhã achei fraco, mas talvez seja o habitual da região. Como é um apartamento, seria interessante ter a opção com e sem café (com menor custo). Eu preferia ter pagado menos e eu mesma comprado o café da manhã.

This place is wonderful! A real find, a charming and beautiful old house with all mod cons and a delightful housekeeper who makes breakfast to order - on the sunny roof terrace if desired - and helps with whatever you need. Great location in the Medina and also close to taxis and pick up points for excursions. Clear instructions and a whole lot of local information were sent before our arrival and there was great communication from the host. We couldn't have been happier with our stay!

We were a little wary of going down the alleyway to the entrance - which was slightly off the beaten track - when coming back after dark but generally it was fine.
