Self contain apartment on the Barbican 3 bed

Very close to the Barbican area where there are lots of bars and restaurants. Close enough to walk into the main shopping area and to the Lido. The area is gorgeous. The house is well decorated. The house was fairly clean but more attention to detail is needed. The kitchen was well stocked, and the dishwasher was a bonus. Lots of parking around, try 'Just Park' to get a cheap deal within walking distance.

There was an odd smell when you first entered, but this didn't spread to the upper floors. There was clothing left behind from previous guests on the back of the 1st bedroom door, which made me question the cleaning in that room. There is no tv with streaming service in the property, although it is advertised as having this service. We really struggled to get a signal on our first night. Wires spread across the room so we could watch the World Cup whilst having a takeaway after a long drive. This was really inconvenient for us, and although we raised the issue with the owner, the only solution was to put the aerial in the window. We were offered a firestick the next day and were told it would be there by lunch time but when we got back from being out, it wasn't there and we couldn't be bothered with the hassle of installing it later in the day. The owner was responsive, but we shouldn't have had to contact him at all about this as he knows it is an issue based on previous reviews. The noise at night was bad. The windows do not close properly in the bedroom next to the bathroom. Music was blasting outside until gone 2am. I imagine it would be very cold in the winter. We have a victorian house with similar windows that are also protected, and there are ways to repair and maintain them without breaching planning rules. The beds were also uncomfortable. Mattresses too soft and dipping in the middle. The place needs deep clean. door frames and carpets in particular. The sofa was also very old and dirty. There is nowhere to hang clothes. The issues that I have raised have been mentioned many times in reviews over the past few years. Maybe one day, they will be rectified. These are small changes that could make a stay in this property great.

The location is amazing

Lots of things, but for the price we was very happy. All mattresses are poor quality. Cleaner could pay more attention to detail. Dosnt need a dish washer and freezer was frozen over and wouldnt shut cooker very dated and smoked al ot and burned food. I could go on but like i said we where more than happy overall.

Bit too noisy at night

The house itself was beautiful, we liked the amenities. The location was excellent. It was close to everywhere, the city centre, the waterfront, yatch club, the Hoe, Sutton Harbour Marina, places of interest, shops, pubs, restaurants everywhere. The area was lively, yet peaceful, absolutely amazing!

The service was poor or non - existent. when we moved in there were no bin bags, no where to drop the refuse, practically living with refuse. Bulb in the living room went out and it took a few days to be fixed. The really nasty one was plumbing, water from the toilet dripping into the kitchen downstairs. Water from the toilet seeping under the carpet into the rooms. Just absolutely below expectation of what you'd expect in a rented property. The host was very nice, made us feel welcome. We had a nice wecome pack. Did his best, but it wasn't good enough, could be because of the holiday season or because of our long stay. There needs to be proper maintenance. I would rate it 101% for a short stay.
