We stays for 3 nights for Gamescom and it was money well spent.

The host was very nice and responsive. The neighbourhood is very quiet and has all facilities near by. The apartment is very spacious so it was easy for the 3 of us to fit in it.

The WiFi. We managed to connect but it only worked for the 1st day. We had our hotspots, so we didn't contact the host about it. It's a bit far away from the center, but well connected via train and tram.

I liked the split bedrooms, the guest w/c (bathroom), the size of the living room, and the free parking somewhat nearby. Coffee machine with pods was a lifesaver since we’re big coffee drinkers and the kitchen was equipped with the basic essentials. The lister spoke English and answered my parking questions promptly and left clear instructions on how to retrieve the keys to the apartment. She also responded promptly when I told her that we were not staying our complete stay due to obvious plumbing issues. She did offer for us to come back for an extra night for free but I don’t think we will be taking that offer.

WiFi was not the best, but doable if you rely on your cellphone data. I did not like the main bathroom. It had a horrible pungent sewer smell that gave me a headache. At first, I thought that someone had used the w/c to relieve themselves and did not want to mention the smell out of embarrassment to the elderly gentleman who greeted us, however I learned later on that evening (when we got back from being out all night) that in fact, it was the water (plumbing) in the bathroom that smelled like that. When the shower was turned on, the smell became stronger. There were 3 of us there and we all agreed that we could not ignore the smell and chose not to stay another night. The owner is aware of it and has been told that the whole building is like that. I wish I would have been offered a partial refund, since there is no list warning for the sewer smell of the building, but as I mentioned, I was offered a free night for future booking.

Location, peaceful and quiet

The property is not suitable for party weekends. We also got in trouble with landlord for smoking indoors. However, we were allowed to smoke in the balcony.

The owner was not available on phone several times but the second phone number in booking.com works always. It only takes time to ask for it from bookin.com. the owner should be more available.

Good but could be cleaner

The beds were comfortable and clean. The location was great for Cologne city and the area was lovely, really green. Good public transport. Good views from the balcony. Wi-Fi was good. Mariam was very pleasant and helpful.

Apartment needs a thorough clean. Floors were not clean, and the small toilet was very dirty. Light fittings in bedroom and lounge need replacing. Junk on balcony.
